Prolific chip problems - one solution
I strongly recommend that nobody buys a Prolific USB as I have also
suffered a lot of problems with them. (or what I thought was Prolific,
they may have been the unlawful copy) It is highly possible

Two wires were plenty heavy enough and fit well with the connector I was using. Plus, I was just powering a flat screen monitor - not arc welding! Otherwise, yes. You are correct.

Actually, in that case, you should have paralleled the 2 red wires and the 2 black wires. Just using one red and 1 black you diminished the current capacity of the p/s. They had them paralleled for

Recently I purchased a similar power supply and when I cut the plug, there were FOUR wires. Two red and two black. Both had the proper voltage and ohmed out that the two red and the two

Definitely what Wayne said. Make sure you DO NOT get one with the Prolific chip set, especially one made in China. The Chinese illegally copied Prolific's chips and driver software. Prolific

No reason why not, mine does. Get one with the FTDI (if I remember the nomenclature correctly) chip, NOT the Prolific Chip.

Another one that works exceedingly well is made by IO Gear, it cost about $20, at work with multitudes of serial devices they always worked which can't be said for the chap units.
