With 100's of generators going off the shelf during an ice storm, you gotta expect those who have no clue about how to hook

GE Terry,
I'm not sure the exact number affected by the storm...500,000 households gotta be close to 1 million people in Michigan. About 90% of our county lost power.

Re: LOOKING FOR: 4SQRP SS-40
Actually, an SS-40 can be put on 30 meters with a change in the VXO crystals to 16.384 MHz, a standard computer crystal value and the IF changed to 6.250 MHz, also a standard computer crystal value.

Re: LOOKING FOR: 4SQRP SS-40
80M or 30M either one will entail a lot of changes a possibly some custom crystals for the LO but I have way too many 40M radios, it would be nice to have something different.

Re: Frequency adjustment on a simple cw transmitter
Jim,
Sounds like a fun project. Regarding the output filter, one usually tries to choose the cap and coil values to cut-off (roll off, actually) emissions from just above the band the rig is designed
