Hilltoppers for QCX trade?

Jess Gypin

I have complete and working QCXs by QRP Labs that I would be interested in trading. 20 and 40 meters. Both fully functional, aligned and running.
Both are in 3D printed cases. 20 meter rig is about 3 watts out and the 40 meter rig 5 watts out. I missed the Hilltopper kits and would like to try them. Will trade for completed and working rigs or unbuilt kits. Pics attached.

75A - Kits in the 190 Serial Number Range - Do They Need The Modification?

Bruce W1UJR

I read that the early 75A kits needed a separate circuit board due to receiver performance, with inadequate AGC range and objectionable distortion.

I bought 5 of these kits to build and also to give away to younger hams.

When do these mods apply to the kits, is it in my serial range?

Thanks!

Hi Jerry, I know that this post is from last month, but I just finished up my Nouveau 75 and would love to test it on air, up for a sked?

How did you determine the frequency offset?

Re: 40 AND 80 METER NET REPORT

That "Almost!" is surprising.  Frankly I had no business getting into the 80m mix.  I could hear Johnny but could barely copy 10 percent of whatever he was sending.  Dropping my call sign a couple of times was just wishful thinking.  But Johnny's sharp ears heard it.

Pushing 5 watts across 1,100 miles in late May is a daunting challenge.

I'll try to be more sensible henceforth.

Another 75A question. Just built one. The xmit carrier output is 1 watt. The RX sensitivity is approx 15 microvolts and the RX frequency is offset approx. 66khz from the xmit frequency. What did I do wrong? Thanks for any input.

Paul,

For Park QRP I now have a Yaesu FT-818 w/CW 300 filter but have not updated my QRZ page yet.  At the base, as used last night, I use my Yaesu FT-450D with its DSP and Filters @ 300 CW and a 9:1 35ft EF Inv V.

What I need to work on 7122 is a super beam but due to HOA there's no chance.  I realize that they have the right to be there but it seems that they are centered on 7125 and probably at QRO level, in Spanish which I don't speak with probably a slightly loose transmitter.  I simply cannot overcome their signals with all of my weapons.  I can just almost see the edge of the Gulf of Mexico from my rooftop so I have a good shot to Latin America. They do disappear around 7120.

When Bill, KV6Z ran the Net I could work him FB just about every time but the SB group was not on the air then.

I guess that I will not even try if I hear them on, I haven't been able to hit the Net from Maine either but that's not surprising due to the trees in the campground there, I may try from the beach this year as the is now open till 2200L.

Thanks for your concern, we'll not loose faith !

John

John,
Does your X1M Xiegu’s receiver have a narrow CW filter? I didn’t see any mention in the Quick Reference manual. Yes there is adjacent SSB on 40 meters but a good narrow CW filter will kill most of it. Or if you are using your FT818, does that have the narrow CW filter installed? If not, you need an external narrow audio filter!

I could barely hear CW over the SB on adjacent frequency so I dropped down to the WSPR area and ran it for a few minutes around 9:20 EDT.  The indicators are that the Band was good from my area except for the QRM. See attached.  It’s frustrating when you know you should be able to do something but continuously get skunked by Legal QRM.

Re: OHR Sprint I instructions

Dave Redfearn

Charles,

I have a couple of OHR Sprints - 30 & 40 M.
I have a photocopy of the 30 & 40 Meter manuals that I got from Marshall last year.
These have direct conversion receivers and make about 1-2 watts output.
Not sure that there was a Sprint I & II though, there may have be a Spirit I & II.

email me direct at "my call" at arrl.net.

qrp-tech is dead. The successor of that groups is called qrptech and many people moved there when Chuck killed the old qrp-tech group.
