There was one call I just couldn't get AC???, I'm sorry sir but the QRM clobbered you, better luck next time. If you're reading this drop me a line with your callsign and I'll be sure to look out for you.

For those who don't know the station here is:
Ant - 1/2 size G5RV attic mounted
KX3 running 3 watts
Swedish pump st key and regular cans.
With this antenna running only a few watts I never cease to be amazed.

What a grand evening, y'all gave the KX3 a great workout!

I was a 207X1 in the USAF from 1989 to 1993, so I'd be happy to swap stories with you. I don't know how many other hams attending were military radio ops, but this list is the place to ask.

Unfortunately the wx has kept me out of the shack because of work - sigh.  I think all of my antennas are up, but no time to pump any RF into them.

Hopefully spring will be here soon.  And hopefully without any flooding either because that means more hours of work also.

I hope everyone's antennas survived.

Luckily (if you can call getting winter weather lucky) here we only got
already frozen sleet one night, then snow another night, so no freezing
precipitation on the wires.

I just posted a reply with a link to the 4 State QRP kit page and suggested that Jameco look through the kit BoMs to see what kind of part we use and would be interested in ordering. The more sources there are for parts, the lower the prices will be.

This link takes you to their short article (okay, kinda short), but they provide a link near the bottom to give them some feedback on our 'buy habits'.  The posting from 'chukroast' is me.

Sounds to me like anther opportunity to help a supplier tweak their offerings to our preferences, if they really will ?

FS: FCC1 and FCC2

WA0ITP

I've decided to sell a Norcal FCC1 and FCC2 combo that I've had on the shelf for
several years. I have another DDS project in the works and won't need these.
Here are the Norcal pages for more info http://www.norcalqrp.org/fcc1.htm
http://norcalqrp.org/fcc2.htm The manuals are included on a CD.

These were built by Bruce Beford N1RX who built them. Bruce is an outstanding
builder and these items reflect his skills. The kits retailed for $80 total,
I'm asking $60 shipped anywhere in the US. DX hams pse email for shipping
costs. If you are intertested in them, pse respond off list.

These are a popular DDS VFO and counter combo and I wanted to give Four Staters
the first chance at them. Thank you for considering.

Yep cold as heck here too  it was -2 this am.
We ended up with 2 or 3 inches of snow sleet mixed, not terrible.
Good job on the contest with qrp SSB, at least your still QRP, right!

And then it got cold. I was down in the 'man cave' (my shack is in the garage/basement of our split level) and man it was cold down there last night. I had my space heater on burn and it was still DARN cold.
All I can keep thinking about is we're going to have one of those typical midwestern summers too. One day we'll have snow and the next it will be 97 with 99% humidity! Ugh!
Sorry. I know we're all pretty sick of this.

On the antenna front the good old W3EDP is really drooping. But it still works.

I worked an hour of the ARRL DX phone contest Saturday night and 2 hours Sunday late afternoon. I made 21 contacts. From a contest standpoint I realize that's not very good but for 5 watts SSB I think it was pretty good. And it still amazes me. I think four or five of those were over 5000 miles. Two were over 6000 miles. I know most of you guys are CW buffs so forgive me for being lazy and not improving my code like I should. But I just had to share.
I think it's so amazing what you can do with an FT-817 and a piece of wire hanging in your backyard. I'm a technologist by trade and this still amazes me.
Most of my contacts, BTW were on 15 meters. I wasn't at the right time to get 10 meters. Since I've been logging at QRZ.com, I'm up to 31 countries. I can't hardly believe it.

I think I am going to need some help with this one so if anyone has the time to look at it for me that would be great. Just shoot me an email and let me know.
