Re: New EZ Keyer Kit

A simple errata sheet should take care of it.  You might also mention that the washers on the push buttons should go on the underside of the top cover with the nuts on top.  Having the washers on the underside of the cover works great to keep the spacing right so no strain is put on the 3 jacks once things are tightened down.

I've done some tech writing in my day and wrote a whole bunch of lesson plans when I taught electronics in the Army back in the 60's, 70's and early 80's so I know how you can have a whole bunch of proof readers check things, but until someone actually uses the instructions to build the device, you won't catch all the errors and maybe not even then, LOL.

Seriously, those were the only errors I could find and I absolutely love the way the case looks made out of the PC board.  That is one fine idea and not difficult to put together at all as long as you pay attention to the directions.

I never do unless I run into trouble, and I just use my miter saw's table as a jig and press the bottom and a long side tight to the 90 degree wall & base.  It's easy to tack solder the two pieces, swap sides and do the second side the same way.  Once the two sides are on the base, the end pieces get done the same way and it all winds up square, no tape needed.  The tape/rubber band method is probably the best for those who don't have the tools I do though.  No matter how you do it, get it square and it really looks professional.

Dave,

Great work! On the activities page! The Excel spread sheet works and looks perfect on my iMac. Now whether it will stay that way when I send it off might be another thing but that will be my problem!!

Wired & Tested 4S Link with a modification so that standard, off-the shelf 1/8" stereo cables can be used for the rigs that have the microphone audio on the TIP and PTT on the RING of the connector (most of them) instead of having to make one up.

Included is a printed copy of the manual to include both the original schematic and one showing the TIP and RING swap on the TRANSCEIVER MIC/PTT jack, J3.

Was asking $40 shipped, will drop this to $30 shipped anywhere in the US.

Not a huge deal, but I did not see my score listed. Think I followed the instructions, sent the file to 4x4@... at 8.52PM EDT on 10/5.  I can resend if you cannot locate it. Sent comments to the list a few minutes later and saw the post had made it too.

My score was 564 as being portable helped a ton.

It was not the best of condx wx and band wise for lots of you. Hope it is better next time.

I'm gonna send "RST nr 38 bk" and call "CQ 4S" . Walter wants the reports
sent to spike55@outlook.com They only need to include the number of contacts
made and the mode.

Hope to cu on the air and work a bunch tonight.

any mode and band, except WARC & 60 mtrs, no NCS, 5 watts maximum
output regardless of mode. The Sprint keeps the keys, mics, and
keyboards active and collect the valuable QSO contacts that are needed
to achieve the W25 awards.

Suggested calling idea is.....CQ 4S....and obtain the stations 4SQRP
number for W25 awards. Please stop by the 7.122 MHz group hang-out
frequency to allow the crystal bound stations to have fun, also! Also
some folks have not changed their Pig Rig from 7.030.7 MHz.
We have yet to have a SSB or digital entry, there is room for everyone!
Exchange, club member number or None if non-member. You may want to give RST and

There is more at stake than the W25 awards, the most QSO contacts

Terry,

On my Mac the notes and all the other text looks great. However several things extended out of the colored box---Walter's call down in the text box where he thanks folks for joining in the sprint.

Rather than switching back and forth with computers( have three running right now on my desk, if you count my Samsung phone) I am just going to load windows on this Mac and be done with it. That way I can run all my logging programs etc. without switching between machines.
