Re: SS-40 Survey -- rant about Priority Mail tracking
davemrtn
I recently sent a package via 1st class mail and paid a small extra for "tracking".
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
I wanted to make sure I knew when it was delivered. As it turns out the USPS attempted deliver and no one was at the address to receive the package, so they left a delivery notice. After a week no one had gone to the USPS to get the package and the company I was dealing with said they hadn't received my package....... Guess who had egg on THEIR face !!! Anyway, it's resolved now and my replacement parts are scheduled for delivery by my local USPS today. Now I just hope the replacement parts work better than the first ones I received. -- David Martin - K5DCM - Mountain Home Ar. Quoting Chris Howard w0ep <w0ep@w0ep.us>:

40m net
Gm group:
As Terry said the bands were tough, to say the least! Before the net I worked WN0I in Mo just for fun! Early net WA0ITP TERRY on his Pig Rig and his big rig as well that's a double!
N0YJ BERT was /P with his vertical and 2.5 watts from his HB1B, good job Bert! Late net:WA0ITP TERRY on the PIG sounding FB! W0CH DAVE in MO. I didn't get his rig sorry Dave?
It was fun but tough. The super ears on the lite TDN TEC ARGO 6 did help! 72Johnny AC0BQ

Um, a comment from the peanut gallery.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
USPS Priority mail has "delivery confirmation". It is not a tracking number. They don't lose things very often, but when they do they will tell you that there is no tracking as the item moves through their system. If it is never delivered then the "delivery confirmation" is worthless. I've had that happen. They actually went to a lot of effort to try to find my lost package. But it was the same as if it were just a dumb package. Delivery confirmation is useful in being able to discern if the customer is lying or if the package really got lost. That it will do. sorry, bit of a rant... Chris

??? Paul, I don't have a Twitter account either and was never asked for it to register. You have to register/create a user name with DesignSpark on their web site and then you request a registration key which comes via email.

Re: SS-40 Survey
WA0ITP
HI Todd, Thanx for asking.
The original price was $62 including shipping.
Due to component cost increases we'll probably have to fix the new kit's price
at approx $60, maybe a bit more, plus shipping. The reason I'm not
firm on the price is that we haven't purchased components or boards for the
SS-40 in some time, and costs have increased, some considerably. We always
try to contain the costs as much as possible however.
DX shipping in particular has skyrocked, so we feel
we have to break out shipping costs separately. We'll be using
Priority mail since it provides a tracking number.
Thanx again and hope this helps.

Hey, Terry! Could you give us a ballpark guess on the kit price before we answer the survey? I might want one, but only if the price was right.

80 was ruff agn tonight. lots QRN and propagastion
wasnt too hot. Sri, I know I'm beginning to sound like a broken
record. Johnny and Dave made it in and I heard a KB5 but I just couldnt
pull out the rest of the call. Other than that Zippo, If this continues
I'll feel like cancelling the 80M net for the summer. Or maybe moving
it to 9P, any opinions on that anyone?
Thanx to Johnny and Dave, and to all who tried. I appreciate the
effort.

SS-40 Survey
WA0ITP
I've placed a survey on the SS-40 home page.
This is an attempt to try to determine interest in another run of SS-40
kits. Its not very fancy, but serviceable. Please check it
out. http://www.4sqrp.com/SS40.php
If you missed out on the last run, and would
order one if they were available again, please select "Yes". If there is
sufficient interest we will have another run, if not the kit will be
retired. Thank you for your participation.

Field Day from Tulsa with KX3
wg5f <yahoomail@...>
I had a home based Field Day in Tulsa again this year however, I had my KX3 for the first time and it was great!
Ran 127 CW QSO's, with 50 ARRL Sections, and 39 States/Provinces. I made contacts on 40, 20, 15, & 10 this year. Probably about 11 hours of cumulative operating time. I was happiest about working Alaska and Hawaii for the first time QRP in Field Day. (I've never even HEARD Alaska and Hawaii on previous Field Days!) I used the slingshot to get my 150 ft non-resonate dipole up in the backyard trees. The internal auto-tuner in the KX3 did a great job of matching the antenna. I used a variety of Gel Cells to power the KX3 and the Dell laptop. I built a voltage booster for the laptop that gave me 19.5VDC to extend the laptop life during the event. The logging software was N3FJP Field Day and I used a WINKEY Lite USB keyer cabled to the KX3. (I've mounted the WINKEY in a Altoids tin, of course!) I actually didn't use the laptop for sending/replying to the exchanges, finding the KX3 paddles very easy to use. I guess I could have run the computer off the mains power, but I wanted to see how the booster would work out. I worked most QSO's at 3 watts, but went up to 5 watts on Sunday morning as I had plenty of battery left. All in all - it was a good exercise and lots of fun. 72, -Ed, WG5F-

Wed Nite Nets
WA0ITP
The Four State QRP Comfortable nets meet each Wednesday night
beginning at 7:30 PM CDT, 0030z. A fierce little boomer just went thru Radar
O'Riley's home town, and no more are bearing down on us at this time, so I'm
planning to go ahead with the 80M CW Net, unless more fire up.
If we have to QSY, I like to move up, Johnny likes to move down, and Dick doesn't have to move much at all. Add anything to the exchange that you wish, temp rig, ant, etc. Checking into both, or even all, sessions is encouraged. Who will be the first to check into all of them? 7:30 CDT 0030z ... 40M CW Net on 7122, AC0BQ NCS 8:00 CDT 0100z ... 80M CW Net on 3564, WAØITP NCS. 8:30 CDT 0130z ... 40M CW Net on 7122, AC0BQ NCS 9:00 CDT 0200z ... 80M PSK Net on 3580.5, NØTGR NCS All are welcome! After the nets, a list of checkins will be posted on the Four State reflector. ---------------------------------- Real radios weigh less than a pound.
