Re: Solar Impulse Flight

Phil Anderson

Thanks Dave. I saw the summary last night on TV general news. Quite a neat thing. The newscaster postulated about future solar power travel for the public....that could - if ever - take awhile.

NAQCC Sprint Wednesday night!

Wayne Dillon

Just passing this along, Hope you can support this fun sprint, no I wont be in it as it co-insides with net nite but I hope some of y'all can get on and have some fun...

NAQCC Sprint Wednesday night!

Last May we had one of only two sprints with under 100 logs submitted in the past three years. That was due to many members heading off to the Dayton Hamfest. So this year to avoid that, we are having our May sprint the week before Dayton as we hope to continue our long run of 100+ logs sprints to show the ham radio world CW is alive and well - and actually growing. That means our May sprint will be on a second Wednesday instead of a third Wednesday.

Our May sprint is this coming Wednesday evening local time (May 8, EDT - 8:30-10:30PM, CDT - 7:30-9:30PM, MDT - 6:30-8:30PM, PDT - 5:30-7:30PM), which translates as Thursday May 9, 0030Z to 0230Z in all cases.

I will refer you to the proper URL:

http://naqcc.info/sprint201305.html

There you will find all the details as to time, frequencies and other important information.

Certificates: SWA (simple wire antennas) certificates by call area, VE and DX for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers (New!). A Certificate for top score in the GAIN antenna category.

Prizes: Too many to list!! - check out the prize page on our website.

This is a monthly event that caters to the CW veteran, the CW newcomer, straight key and bug fans. All are welcome to participate (this includes QRO); but you must use QRP power levels to compete for awards.

If you've been hesitant to join in our sprints because you hear other sprints running at breakneck speeds, have no fear. Our sprints are geared to the newcomer to CW and/or contesting. Virtually everyone including the many veteran contesters who regularly enter our sprints will slow down to YOUR speed to help you make your contacts.

If you are not already a member of NAQCC... membership is FREE! Now is your chance to join the largest QRP CW Club in the world!! We currently have 6680+ members in: All 50 States - 9 VE Provinces - 93 Countries. Sign up on the NAQCC website today (http://naqcc.info/) and receive a handsome certificate, with your membership number on it, which is good for life.

Come join us and have a real good time!

Dave,

Here is a link to some nice ferrite bar cores only (no coils are wound on them).  While priced for 50, the price is decent; just double it for your 100.  I have got some with my last order, and they seem like nice units.  I haven't gotten around to using them yet, so I cannot give you a performance review.

Good Luck in your venture!

Had not real great condx today, with 5 checkins: but good conversation with three.
K2HT - Dick in Mo.. was very very light to me, but K0DTJ , Brian in Ca, helped out and
we got Dick recognized. W5GW - Gary in Tx, doing real well, 'til the phone got him...
Then K9JWV - Jim in Ut dropped by, with words of wisdom and props..
The bright ending? Was K7ITN dropping in for a first Q on his new MTR.
That was a blast, and it sounds great! So he is off to SOTA this weekend.
And I'll be doing the 7QP, getting the tarnish off the key, and will be looking for y'all
next Tuesday, with reports of the weekend from ea.

Hi Dave,

Here's a long shot that might be fun. I read some time ago about a guy in Montana that gathered up the raw material and then molded his own large rods. Don't recall the url but you might try a google search on such.

From under snow drifts and beneath a bright clear sky, will come the cry:

and your answer is welcome... at any speed you want. I'll match you, we'll exchange info...
member (of club/group)  numbers, temps, years licensed... or number of antennas still standing.
Or just about anything else too...
Net lasts about 45 minutes, and after we chat a bit... another call.. hopefully leaving enough room for
everyone, to call in.
Y'all come, y'a 'ear?

I'd check with Rex at QRPme to see if his China connection can get something like that. Other than that, probably eBay from one of the sellers. Maybe negotiate a lower price with 100 unit quantity.

Re: LT SPICE circuit draw and simulate program DOWNLOAD

Nick-WA5BDU

Yes, LTSpice is one of the very best free technical programs out there.  True, there's a learning curve if you want to get into complex stuff, imported models, etc., but you can start simple.

BTW, I uploaded a model of the HI-PER-MITE filter recently.  It's in the "files" area of the 4SQRP Yahoo group page.

Hi Guys,

One of the programs I've used at least once a week is still available
free as a download from Linear Technology; it is called LTspice and
allows you to draw circuit schematics, save and/or print them, and
simulate the circuit, showing calculations, signal traces, and frequency
responses (and freq content)!

Documentation is reasonable but it takes a bit of time to learn. You can
download LTspice from www.linear.com and then go to tools to find the
LTspice IV download. Download is very quick. It installed AOK on Windows
7 and I had previously used it on Windows Vista home edition too.

Thanks Terry, I like that new key. Liked the other key too but the Brass Racer is kind of nice.

I didn't hear anything on 40. I was a little late to the show, tho...

Time to batten down the hatches, they're predicting a drop in temp - it was in the mid to upper 80's today here - and supposed to be down to 50 by the weekend! Gotta' love the Midwest weather. I heard someone talking about snow in MN or somewhere!
