This one had me stumped. Couldn't get it working, RX worked just great and have good waterfall but the TX was were the problems started. I usually use the VOX on the rig and tried that first but no luke, just hum going into the rig. Hooked up the old interface I have been using and all is working fine. Took the new interface apart and the audio out (going to the Mic in on the rig) is actually on the Ring instead of the Tip as the TIP is for the PTT as I was going by the manual. Actually I use the same setup on my microphones (Tip/audio, Ring/PTT). I will give it another go tonight and see if I am successful. Funny thing is that the interface I built a few years is similar to this one except the pots are setup for the monitor speaker and not the Mic input and used the isolation transformers out of an old computer network card. "you should install a common mode choke in the 12V power wires.
Make a choke using the FT50-75, half inch diameter black toroid with 5 turns of dual 26 gauge wires. Do not let the power supply ground connect directly to any metal box ground
The power supply ground must connect to the PCB/chassis through the choke only. A 1/4 inch Rubber Grommet is included to protect power wires running through a chassis/enclosure wall."

I'm away from my pig at the moment, but I'm pretty sure L7 is not mounted on the board. It's actually optional if you want to choke your incoming DC as it enters the enclosure. I think there's pictures of this somewhere, maybe in Diz's documentation. You might as well use it since DC can be very dirty in this day of switch-mode . . . everything. I also snap a few ferrites on the power cable just before it enters the enclosure. I'm also pretty sure you need to wind both the + and the - wires on the toroid. AC noise can come in from either wire.

I have no excuse as a first-time Dayton and FDIM attendee. My original ticket was in Michigan, not 300 miles away, nearly 50 years ago. I'm especially ready now, since we just returned from the International DX Convention in Visalia. That was a first-class event. I don't know if there would be any rooms available, but I booked us into the Residence Inn at Beaver Creek, not very far from the Holiday Inn. This was a few months ago, though. If you look at the schematic, the
resistors R1, R2, R11, R12 are set up for 30 db gain. Refer
to the table for setting gain on page 2 in the manual.
When they created the Center Frequency Table, I
think they were looking at the schematic........
The only difference between 0 db and 30 db is that
you swap R1 and R3...........
R3 and R11 and R12 are not in the Center Frequency
Table, therefore R1 is all we have to worry about for gain.
One more factoid; the different center freqs are
found by scaling the resistors by the same ratio as the freq ratio.
Example: If we are moving the center freq from 700
to 640 then the ratio is 700/640 = 1.094
So if R1 was 33K at 700 Hz the R1 at 640 Hz
would be 1.094 * 33K = 36 K
And at long last if R1 is 1meg * 1.094 = 1.094
meg for R1.............
I would just leave it at 1M .....it won't make that
much difference, unless you are going for 500 Hz.

Well FDIM is quickly approaching and Dayton Hamfest is an added plus for you scroungers. If you never been to FDIM before, you are missing on heck of a great time! Here is all the info: http://www.qrparci.org/fdim Every year about half the attendees are first timers, so don’t be shy in coming. Consider bringing someone to share rooms and expenses with!
I talked with some of you during Ozarkcon about going to FDIM. Some of your reported you tried to reserve a room, but found out there were no rooms available when you last checked. Now is a good time to recheck as there are cancellations coming in now. A few mentioned to me that when they tried to get a room at the Holiday Inn, they eventually gained one at the Homewood Suites next door with no referral from the Holiday Inn. If you are one of those, I would love to find out more info from you, please email direct and off list. W5jay@... In fact if you had any bad experiences in getting a room I would love to hear about those stories, but please direct only and off list. Dayton has always been hard to get a room during the hamfest, but we are constantly working hard to improve process and gain more rooms for FDIM.
This year is a special year as there is another booked event at the Holiday Inn, plus graduation is happening at the same time at Wright University, not to mention all the high school proms hitting at the same time. Even the new built Hotels like the Mariot down the street are also booked solid!
Here is the latest info right of the FDIM site:
All hotel rooms at the Holiday Inn and Homewood Suites are now booked. There is a reserve list which is currently quite short. It is likely that everyone on the reserve list will be allocated a room when cancellations are notified. If you want to be added to the reserve list for either hotel please call the Holiday Inn directly on 937-431-4613. Calls can only be taken during office hours Monday-Friday. Tell them you are with 'FDIM' to get the special rate and complimentary breakfast. BTW, there are many motels that are within driving distance outside of Dayton proper. Like coming up from the south from Cincinnati. Some are very nice and practically new, so do some searching and you will probably accommodations which ever direction you are coming from. It may not be in Dayton proper, but you might find it faster as you are right on the main HWYs to both the hamfest and FDIM! Looking forward to seeing everyone a few weeks from now! Hey, was browsing the net this afternoon and ran across a site with URL www.morse.fusion.com. It's about learning the code while reading mostly words from a novel but some code words interspurced, interesting idea. I was going to order the program to play but could not find a name or callsign associated with the site.....only a link to DX Zone..... Then I realized that neither site had a ABOUT US tab, saying who they were or where they are located. So I didn't order; guess I'm old fashioned?
So, does anybody know about the DXzone or folks who wrote morse.fusion?

Glad you liked the build, it is a cool kit isnt it. The small feet are as mistake of mine, and they're not needed. I originally bought them before discovering that they wouldn't provide clearance for the bolt heads. Rather than spend the time removing them (time was vy tight) the larger ones were just added to the kit. Not all the kits have both sets. Haven't got mine yet, but from what Jerry told me in an email the big ones are supposed to be the ones used. Shipping of some of the kits (mine included) was delayed until the big feet arrived as the small ones wouldn't fit right or something.
