Subject: [4SQRP] info on QRP-L?

Hello,

Is anyone here also subscribed to the QRP-L list reflector on mailman.qth.net?

I had been a member for decades, but unsubscribed over a year ago when there was more “noise” than “signal.”

Wanting to re-subscribe, I sent the necessary email and got responses (twice) “Your request has been forwarded to the list moderator for approval.” Then... nothing. Does QRP-L still exist? Has it moved to .io? Is it worth the effort?

There have been several questions like this over the past few months. QRP-L seems to be running on autopilot and the moderator has left the building. Whether permanently or not, I don't know. Unfortunately though, it's not possible to join the list at this time.

SSS Results

John Lonigro

Well, the October Second Sunday Sprint results are in.  Carl, WB0CFF, reclaimed 1st place for the year, now surpassing Chas, W2SH, by 9 QSO points.  Carl has 142 points and Chas has 133.  Besides not participating last month, Chas also earned 10 fewer QSO points than Carl.  The combination put Chas in 2nd place overall.  With two months to go, either of these gentleman has a chance to win the coveted 4SQRP SSS annual 1st place certificate.  Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit by saying the certificate is "coveted", but I'm sure either would prefer that to a 2nd place certificate.  It looks like those are the only choices for them.  Nick, WB5BKL, with 97 points, is in a good position to finish third, but it would take quite an effort to take either 1st or 2nd place.  And John, K4BAI, with 81 points, still has a chance to catch Nick in the final two months.

For October, Carl, WB0CFF, finished first.  His certificate will be emailed to him shortly.

Also, welcome back to John, AL7JK.  According to my records, John had participated in the SSS in the past, but this is the first time for him in 2019.  John ended up with 0 QSO points, but was heard by a couple JA stations during a JA-only contest.  Pretty good for 5 Watts!

72 Until next month,

John, AA0VE
4SQRP Contest Coordinator

thank you, Dennis, I have one other question and that is I was sent a module and I built it and installed it but the reception is still bad it sounds like it is out of frequency I know on my big rig icom 7300 I can tune the fine tunning rit to get the voice clear so the only adjustment would be to fool around with the toroids on the nouveau and I did that buy squeezing up the windings to see if I got  a different frequency but there is no bfo and I know it is a am radio the only thing that happens is that I lost wattage around 3900 MHz it was about 2 1/2 watts on my meter with dummy load and at 3803 I was at 5 watts so I am lost? how do I clear up the received voice
thanks, terry 73

Wilderness NC40A sked?

Michael N6MST

This is cross-posted in a few IO groups, just FYI.

I have a virgin Wilderness 40A Rev C and want to start sea trials with another 40A. Whether it is a qrp-tech 40A, a Norcal version, or a Wilderness kit, all are good in my mind. Anyone with a 40A interested in a sked around 1000 or 11oo zulu?

Thanks all,
Mike N6MST

nouveau 75

KM6KJE

Hi, joe I have recently built the nouveau 75 and I have installed the new board you sent me. it seems like it needs a fine tune adjustment but that's what I am writing about it's that when I use the tuner and go up in frequency I lose wattage is that normal at about 3.806 to 3.820 it reads 5 watts on the wattmeter (I am using a Dosy watt meter) when I put it at say 3.900 MHz I get about 3.5 watts is that normally and if not what may be wrong thanks terry KM6KJE

Re: Nouveau 75

Hi Terry,
I don't know anything about this kit or its adjustments.  I was not the one who sent you the board.
I think you need to contact Dave Cripe, NM0S who is the designer of the nouveau 75.  Wish I could
help but I'm not qualified to help you on this kit..
