I guess yesterday’s NAQP used up all the solar flux. Had fun on 40 yesterday, but today it’s a ghost town.

Called you several times Johnny but nothing here but noise. Was on 40m checking for sigs. Found W5KU talking with 4X6ZM down on 7.005 Mhz. Dennis, W5KU, said he was running a KW with a 2 element array up 150 feet. Had a great signal here but that's the only CW signal I heard during that hunt. hi hi 80m is just noise so far. May listen/call for a little while. Thanks for trying. 73 de n4mj “PLEASE REMOVE all email addresses before you send it on and use BCC option when forwarding" Thank you!

GE Johnny. Been calling CQ SS 4S and CQ 4S for a while and nothing heard. That was on 7.122 and 3.564 Mhz. I'm not overly surprised as 20m was crazy this afternoon. Stations I normally hear for SOTA were whispers and ESP. Thinking tonight isn't any better on the lower bands. Just not hearing much at all. Posted on QRPSPOTS but no results. n4mj “PLEASE REMOVE all email addresses before you send it on and use BCC option when forwarding" Thank you!

Re: TA7642

Fwiw, I tried to make that Nouveau75 substitute circuit, think I did it right, my Murania had all the recommended mods, when I substituted it, last night, for the TA7642 and ran the replacement circuit off 9 volts it did not work for me.
Did not try running it off 6 volts like in the Nouveaux75 and did not try it with a unmodified Murania. May try building another one in case I did it wrong (but I suspect that while it works in the 75 meter rig it may not be doing exactly what the TA7642 circuit does) jerry aa1of

Second Sunday Sprint
John Lonigro
Don't forget the first Second Sunday Sprint (SSS) of the new year is tomorrow night, 7:00pm CST (8:00pm EST, 5:00pm PST). If you are serious about trying to finish the annual contest in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place, you need to try to enter every month, starting tomorrow night. If you can't make it every month, you can always shoot for first place in any of the twelve monthly contests.
The complete rules for this 2 hour sprint can be found on the 4sqrp.com website. As always, tabulate your score at qrpcontest.com, either right after the contest or the following day. This year I'm going to try to tabulate the scores first thing Tuesday mornings (if I don't forget). Thanks and 72, John, AA0VE 4SQRP Contest Coordinator

I can't attest to the first question but I have always used a 9 volt battery with my Murania. It is a daily user and I am having a blast with it. 73 Everett N5MZX

No problem Johnny. I’m just never sure if I don’t hear NCS or no one is there.
