Of course I did a Google search as well, but found nothing that links the name "Murania" to radio.  Hence my original question in the now-hijacked "Murania name" thread.

Paul could be right. I just don't know, so I'm hoping NM0S will chime in here.  One of my radios is intended to be a conversation piece.  It's mildly embarrassing not to be able to explain the name.

I would think the name comes from listening to the radio program on a transistor radio. Like I had as a kid.

Looked up Murania on Google - - found this:

________________________________________________________

From the "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" WIKI,

Murania is an advanced subterranean empire and outpost of the massive underground land Atvatabar, which is located 25,000’ beneath the U.S. state of New Mexico. Coincidentally a ranch was built above Murania, belonging to early 20th-century gunfighter and balladeer Gene Autry.

The inhabitants of this subterranean empire were descendants from the sunken continent of Mu that had become so used to their underground environment that they could no longer breath normal air, having to rely on oxygen masks to survive on the surface. The Muranian Empire is quite advanced, complete with towering buildings, robots, ray-guns, and elevator tubes that extend miles from the surface. The realm also contains a massive amount of radium deposits.
Source materialEdit

Murania is based from the film The Phantom Empire (1934), which starred Gene Autry as himself.

The report I found did not say the underground city was called Murania. Sorry.

The Phantom Empire is a 1935 American Western serial film directed by Otto Brower and B. Reeves Eason and starring Gene Autry, Frankie Darro, and Betsy King Ross.[1] This 12-chapter Mascot Pictures serial combined the western, musical, and science fiction genres. The first episode is 30 minutes, the rest about 20 minutes. The serial film is about a singing cowboy who stumbles upon an ancient subterranean civilization living beneath his own ranch that becomes corrupted by unscrupulous greedy speculators from the surface.[3] In 1940, a 70-minute feature film edited from the serial was released under the titles Radio Ranch or Men with Steel Faces. This was Gene Autry's first starring role, playing himself as a singing cowboy.[4]

Can someone tell me how/why the name "Murania" was chosen for the kit?  I thought I might find an explanation in the manual or in the 4SQRP kit description, but no luck.  Seems to me it should be in both places. :)

Thanks.

Johnny, Yes the statement that -500 for GMT should read +500. GMT is ahead of our time zones, being East of USA. Why don't you just list your CDST and then GMT as 0100/0130 for the two nets.

Thank you Carl,

It's great to hear you back again on the bands after those recent health issues.  Also I note that we both use the TT Argo 6 and I may be in touch with you later with some questions about its use.

I have been in bed since April 26 with a severe case of cellulitis but struggled loose to be in the S.S.S.  And just tonight I was in the NAQCC monthly sprint.

WA4DOU was just at the edge of my skip zone.  I could hear him but could only read the WA4 in his call sign.  He would have been do-able on 80m, but Sunday's 80m condx were really lousy.

Back to the sack with my right leg up 18 inches.

72,

Charles (aka Chas), W2SH

I could hear net control and the several checkin's, but all except PWP were only Q0-2 in the QRN. Heard K3NLT try to check in about 0140Z, but don't think he made it. WA9PWP was about 449 here and K3NLT was about 569.
