I found that the light on a surge protector can cause noise. Otherwise a tuned antenna makes a difference. I used a full wave loop with a tuner. Worked 16 states with my pixie.

hello :)
I would recommend you do what you can do to obtain a tuned wire
Tuned for somewhare in the 40 meter CW band !
50 feet of wire means what exactly I don't know !
A good ground might be
A wire run from the coax shield straight to the earth !
I hope this might help
Running abt 650 mW what I get out of mine !
i find it very helpful to run as efficient antenna as I can
50 feet of un tuned wire I would not think would be a very happy
Even though the cricket is a nice little rig and can handly a good bit of abuse
You might ought to try and give it its best chance !

I was on 40m until the 80m net, heard 2 single “CQs” and then silence, kinda like letting the air out of a balloon.  80m here was S8, ESP heard some parts not much else.

Sooner or later we’ll make it from Florida !

No stations heard.

80 meters started off better, and then my QRM pulse jumped up to S8 and that took care of me hearing anyone else.
Its a pulse that will jump up to S8 for a period of time, then stop, then come back again.

I think I heard Chas W2SH trying to get in, but my QRM was over powering him.

Nothing heard on 40m.  On 80m WA9PWP was 569; N4MJ was 559 at best but suffered deep QSB.

ACØBQ was 339.  I dropped my call only twice.  Good ears, Johnny.
