That's a great 'Banner' Keith. I have looked it over quickly and plan to re-read it later when I have more time. Thanks for letting us know it was online. 73 de n4mj//glenn “PLEASE REMOVE all email addresses before you send it on and use BCC option when forwarding" Thank you!

The lady last year said we could camp at the shelter house with the restrooms left open. Someone might inquire. The use of the shelter house was $25.00

Re: Nouveau 75 Distorted Audio
nm0s_qrp <ai9e_qrp@...>
This rig uses a TA7642 IC for the AM detector and AGC. It combines many functions in a three-pin package. It is also known for its distinctive audio characteristic, as builders of the Murania can attest. The audio quality is somewhat determined by bias levels. Much of the harshness of the audio can be rolled off in the speaker driver bu adding some additional capacitance to C12, in the 0.001 to 0.01u range.

One of my priority items for this week is to compile a troubleshooting guide with expected voltages. You'll see it hopefully by the end of the week.

Nouveau 75 Distorted Audio
Bill VanKirk
I just completed a Nouveau 75 kit. Everything seems to function as it should however the receive audio is distorted to the point you can not understand the receiving station. I have completed all the usual checks for parts placement etc. and as far as I can tell everything is correct. I do not have the skill to work with SMD parts. Would someone from the 4states group be willing to take a look at this for me? Please email me direct with any questions etc.

Yes add to your listener pleasure ... after the QCX onboard filter bypass, plug this qrpkits filter into your QCX PHONES jack
Advertised CW but this filter is front panel tunable and does an fantastic job on SSB voice (hence FT8, WSPR). http://qrpkits.com http://qrpkits.com/ezseries.html#ezbandpass qrpkits filter kit goes for 25 clam$ (half the cost of the QCX) but well worth it to me because I am CFZ (CW FILTER NUTZ) and lost count of # in shack. ...OR... roll your own from junk box... I have first hand experience here TQQ !!! >>>>http://www.circuitstoday.com/band-pass-filters<<<< I plug these math equations into EXCEL then built several BPF ... to include a >VARIABLE< CW band pass filter THAT WORKED FIRST TIME :>)) " until I get the code down pat " Dale, ... Re: SSB Mite

HI John, Up front I'm not familiar with that particular 'audio' filter, however, it has been my experience that 'add on audio filters' are connected via the headphone jack for use with headphones OR between the chassis and the speaker. I have the FT 817ND with a CW filter installed internally. Works great. May want to consider that route if you are a big fan of CW - which is about all I work. 73 de n4mj//glenn “PLEASE REMOVE all email addresses before you send it on and use BCC option when forwarding" Thank you!

Re: 40M Net

David, KB1PJ, FWIW - you were the only station I was hearing last evening. No net, just you. I am curious if there is an actual net or is it just a watering hole for those who want to meet at a specified time/date. If there was an actual net, with a NCS, I hope we didn't cause them QRM. Maybe some of those who are closer to the 4S center-point will enlighten us. 73 de n4mj//glenn “PLEASE REMOVE all email addresses before you send it on and use BCC option when forwarding" Thank you!

John, I may want to mod the OCX for SSB until I get the code down pat. I think a variable bandwith ssb/cw filter would be nice. Is your variable cw filter wide enough for ssb? If so, can you make the design available?

Re: Hi-Per-Mite Center Frequency
Dale Hardin
I'm not likely to mess with the cw filter on the OCX when it arrives and gets constructed. My HPM is going into my Century 21 rig. I just ran an analysis of the HPM on LTSpice. Steep, quick learning curve. Two things, the resistor names in the LTSpice file are different from the HPM schematic, so beware. I had taken the spreadsheet results for 750 hz center frequency and found the nearest E64 resistor value. I plugged those values into LTSpice and got a center frequency of 740.9 hz with -3db bandwidth of 161 hz. YMMV. So, I am happy with the results and learned a little bit along the way. Dale KS4NS

Re: 40M Net
David, Well, CW nets run the same as others and I have had it happen to me, anyone that can be heard that the NC can't should pick up the relay for you...… I believe that is covered in the NAQCC guide. I usually look up a Call prior to sending an email so that I have some background but today I was more involved with my coffee ! If I had done my usual I would have seen that you were in Portsmouth and that you are not as new to CW as I am but I hope the links help. I have about 3yrs on you and just picked up CW a few years ago so I need all of the help that I can get. The QRP Bug got me in 2013 and that occupies 90% of my radio life now...….. way too much fun. 73, John KK4ITX Click Here for Zephyrhills Area Amateur Radio Club Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. ![]()

Those are useful guidelines. What if NC cannot hear you but others can. That has been, I think, one of my problems. By the way, I am in Portsmouth, NH. Maybe we have heard each other Sunday mornings on either QCWA or PCARC nets. Thanks. I will try again next Wednesday if possible.
