Thanks for the welcome. You may have to wait a while to work me. The code practice is taking some time. Much easier when I was younger and taking the advanced test. Regards, Dale KS4NS

qcx audio filter from CW to ssb es ft8 es WSPR / RX
The QCX is already setup to TX WSPR (menu driven) but must be time synced with WWV to within +/- one srcond. The QCX can also be enjoyed as a general coverage SSB HF receiver ... reff : qcx manual 1.08 # 5.7 ...CW filter The QCX audio filter is a very well designed CW filter therefor can not pass SSB voice or FT8 or WSPR You will need to bypass OR modify the QCX onboard CW audio filter to enjoy QCX SSB : To bypass.... Locate R27 and R29. Lift (unsolder) the leg of R29 that connects to R27. Lift (unsolder) the plus (+) leg of C21. I found it much easier to cut the trace between C21 (+) and IC9A (pin 1). Solder a jumper from the now open pad at R29 to C21 (+) pad. then plug your new outboard SSB filter into the PHONES jack. All other QCX functions work as designed to include CW at a much wider bandwith. Take lQQk at this site http://www.bowdenshobbycircuits.info/opamp.htm Drop down to "2nd Order Opamp Filters" where the example is 200 Hz ...then... plug in your choice of freq for example 2500 Hz. I also have first hand experience here... >>>>http://www.circuitstoday.com/band-pass-filters<<<< I plug these math equations into EXCEL then built several BPF ... to include a >variable< CW band pass filter THAT WORKED FIRST TIME :>)) 72, 73 John N3AAZ

Those are useful guidelines. What if NC cannot hear you but others can. That has been, I think, one of my problems. By the way, I am in Portsmouth, NH. Maybe we have heard each other Sunday mornings on either QCWA or PCARC nets. Thanks. I will try again next Wednesday if possible.

I’ll have to check your QTH and see where you are in relationship to me in Wells, Maine. I tried and could not hear much on 7.122 but I noted NC moved up so yet another lesson learned ! Check out NAQCC Nets for a guide to net ops: http://naqcc.info/cw_nets.html And also the SKCC: http://www.skccgroup.com/ Between these two you should get a good idea, to start with I jotted down on a 3x5 Card the expected exchanges so I wouldn’t have to think about them while trying think about the code. I joined both of the above clubs plus 4S and several others. Coming up this Sunday is a Skeeter Hunt (NJQRP), Leaf Peepers in October and too many more QRP events on my calendar. I’ll be trekking back to Florida in a few weeks, perhaps I can work you from there. 73, John KK4ITX Wells Maine / ZephyrHills Florida If you need a parachute and don't have one you probably won't need one again.

I have tried for months to join the net. Now I know you hear me. And I hear you. But it would be helpful if someone could describe the protocol for hams like me who are trying to join the net without being a nuisance. Honest, But at least I was heard! That is good.

The voltage across R39 (10K) should be 0V in receive. You also want to verify
the resistance to ground there (w/ power removed) in case there's a short somewhere.

Hello
Dale Hardin
I am an avid kit builder and have enjoyed building 4SQRP kits over the years. I didn't know there was an online group until just recently. I have built the QRPometer, NB6M HF Test Set, and have ordered the Hi-Per-Mite. I am now re-learning the code in anticipation of putting my new-to-me TenTec Century 21 on the air. Hi-Per-Mite Center Frequency
Dale Hardin
I need some assistance with my effort to change the center frequency to 750 Hz. I have new resister values, but would like to have them confirmed with LTSpice. I understand someone in the group already has HPM in LTSpice. Once I hear back from someone able to help out, I will post the resistor values I want checked out. Thanks, Dale

Terry,
Perhaps your notes show the calling station was KB1PJ. I tried to chase him away by sending QRL. Later, I wanted to try my luck on 80m, but doggone it there was the same KB1PJ calling.
Well I've checked the 4SQRP membership list, and lo and behold KB1PJ is 4SQRP member # 1885.
I'll send him a note apologizing for my earlier chase-off attempts.
End result: I didn't hear either net well enough to venture a QNI.

Re: Exploring the 4SQRP Group "Member Map" tab

Ron - AG1P,
No problem. As I stated before, "Everything in its own time".
What got me interested in the first place was my intention to somehow "map" some of the 4SQRP group of regulars.
Your "Members Map" does this and much more.
I've built and am having excellent success with the Hilltopper20.
My "bucket list" includes "OzarkCon" and "Brutis Bash".
Ron, thank you for your interest and quick response.

Sorry for the delay. Yesterday was long health-related visits day.
You are correct. The map is static. The program that generates the map needs a file with GPS information to generate the map . It was generated by someone several years ago. To add all the new members is a labor intensive task. I have higher priority tasks on my plate so have not looked into better solution or done the heads down work to get gps coordinates for each of the members to be added and update the file.

Exploring the 4SQRP Group (http://www.4sqrp.com/index.php) "Member Map" tab (http://www.4sqrp.com/Map.php) I find that this utility needs updating. (I can't find myself -W6BOW. Do I exist?)
A "member's callsign lookup box" would be a great addition.
I'd be happy to sponsor or help to sponsor ($$$) an update and upgrade.
