Update Note.......Jeff, is now in the Build-A-Thon thanks to a real Ham Radio Operator being able to share. Turns out, no one looses out, and all involved still get to build the the kit at Branson.

Learning KiCad at Ozarkcon
Hi Everyone, at Ozarkcon this year is a really great chance to learn how to use KiCad for making professional PCB layouts and 3D printing for your cabinets for radio gear! KiCad works for SMD or THT components, ground planes, and lots of other great features. KiCad is as easy to use for schematic capture, PCB layout and it even gives a 3D rendering of the assembled board. PCB are easy to order direct from China. Download KiCad (see below) and bring along your pc; we'll work on a project together. KiCad now has a push and shove router which is capable of routing differential pairs and interactively. tuning trace lengths. 3D printing is a very cool new technology that kids are learning in middle and high school to make small cabinets, paddles for keyers, etc. Download and install FreeCad to follow along. Working with 3D is not as difficult at you think. Barry Buelow - WØIY has 2 time sections of learning this great software for us at Ozarkcon. Bring your laptops to follow along with the presentations. You can download KiCad for free at http://kicad-pcb.org/ What computer OS do you use? Can I use my computer? Here is the page that gives the info: http://kicad-pcb.org/download/ AND for you Chromebook owners, yes it is possible to run KiCad, Will KiCad get me away from dead-bug construction? Well, it sure has a good chance of me changing my ancient ways :-) Here is a link to FreeCad: https://www.freecadweb.org/ See you all at Branson.......it's gonna be fun!

Re: OzarkCon 2019
God Bless folks like you. I tremble at the thought of giving a prepared speech. At our hospital we had a great pathologist who would meet with us at lunch time. No matter what the question he kept us enthralled at the black board explaining some esoteric facet of medicine........ also kept our minds off the standard hospital fare we were eating. Wish there were more like him today.

I will buy any/all of this type of kit. Every time I visit the grand kids I take something electronic for them to build. They love their Papa and his fun stuff.

Re: OzarkCon 2019
Jeff Collins
Dear Walter, I have been to enough other types of conferences to know things can move quick or slow. I was once asked to speak at a conference (I am an award
winning e-commerce expert) with 10 minutes notice because the
person that was supposed to speak did not show up. When I asked
why I was picked, I was told I was the only one there that could
pull it off with 10 minutes notice (got the best seminar reviews
of the conference). At another conference I was asked to be on a
panel discussion because of a no show, but I had a two hour notice
to do that one. So I know the trials and tribulations of putting
these things on. There are never any hiccups or issues. :) If it works out there is a spot, then great. If not...not a
big deal. Just wanted to throw my hat in the ring in case
something opens up. Thank you, Jeffrey R. Collins - W7GRV FCC(SW) USN, Ret. BS, EMT-P, FF I/II Training Oficer - Birch Tree Volunteer Fire and Rescue Member of Missouri Region G HazMat Team On 3/13/2019 10:56 AM, Walter - K5EST
