OzarkCon 2019
Jeff Collins
Dear All,
I have not been on the radio much due to health issues. In fact I had neck surgery two weeks ago today. All signed up for the conference. I had to wait to make sure I would be up to it. If there is a waiting list for kit building and other such things, could someone please put me on the list in case someone does not make it. I am taking scroll saw and lathe turning lessons in Branson then heading over to the conference. -- Thank you, Jeffrey R. Collins - W7GRV FCC(SW) USN, Ret. OT: For Sale, Midnight Design Solutions Scalar Network Analyzer
Surplus to my needs (I now have a new Spectrum Analyzer and a SARK-110) is a really nice fully built and working Scalar Network Analyzer from Midnight Design Solutions ( http://midnightdesignsolutions.com/sna/ ) with the optional digital signal generator. Total cost originally for the SNA and the optional Sig Gen was $120 plus shipping. This unit was personally constructed by me and is in excellent operating condition with the latest (Version 5.0) software installed.
I'd like to get $100 shipped for this - anywhere in the USA & posessions only. PayPal preferred. Interested? Please contact me off the reflector for further information or to say "I'll take it". First "I'll take it" gets right of first refusal (by date/time on the incoming email). Jim Sheldon, W0EB Park City, KS

Kits 4 Kids, a new adventure
Attendees that pre-register for Ozarkcon 2019 are getting in on the ground floor of a new adventure of recruiting new people to the thrill of building a project and having something "they built" that works. The kit is no soldering......no high voltages (9 volt battery).....and circuitry that is built on a real prototype board with plug-in wire jumpers. The Astable Multivibrator circuit is actually a 2 LED Flasher circuit with flashing red and yellow LEDs. Simple, yes, for us serious builders but folks have to start somewhere..Right? The project is part of the 4SQRP Education program that is dedicated to helping keep our great radio hobby growing and Elmering in new members. The first kit is the design genius of Bill - KV6Z and he is already working on the next kit. We will have more information on the 2nd kit later in the year. We would like to know your opinions of the kit at Ocon so we can tailor this kit for release at super reasonable prices. 4SQRP is again leading the charge of finding new members of our great Ham Radio Nation. See you all at Branson.........it is gonna be fun! Walter Dufrain - K5EST - Coordinator OzarkCon 2019

Second Sunday Sprint Results
John Lonigro
I am relieved to announce that a large number of hams figured out the time change on Sunday (hi). Now if my body could figure it out! There were 15 entries on the qrpcontest.com website and it looks like the propagation gods were favorable to most of them. I don't know if that has more to do with atmospheric conditions or the time change, but we'll take it. Let's hope that trend continues for a while.
The winner for March was John, K4BAI, with 22 QSO points, followed closely by Chas, W2SH, with 20. For the year, we have Chas, W2SH, leading the pack, followed closely by Nick, WB5BKL. But the contest season is still young. To Carl, WB0CFF, here's hoping your recovery is swift and complete. We miss your usual contest-leading scores. We had a new participant this month, Jason,KB3SAR. Welcome Jason. I could not find you in the 4SQRP member list. I only keep track of the scores of members. If you are a member, send me your membership number and let the folks at 4SQRP know you aren't listed on the member page. If you are NOT a member, there are several ways to become one. One fun and painless way (other than registration, transportation, and lodging expense-hi), is to attend Ozarkcon, which is merely weeks away (April 5-6). But there is a totally free way to join as well. Check 4sqrp.com for details. We had another participant whom I thought was a new member, John, K6WS, but I found out John simply changed his callsign from WB6HVH. I guess K6WS is quite a bit faster to send in CW. As the March winner, John, K4BAI, should expect his certificate in the (e)mail shortly. 72, John, AA0VE 4SQRP Contest Coordinator

I met him once at Dayton, he was at the GQRP booth. I emailed him a time or two. Yes, he always would respond.

MO-KS Elmers needed
Pardon the public service announcement but it seems important and I was given permission to post the email to the 4SQRP Group. .......snipped from Larry's List....... Calling All Elmers! As you may have heard, the Mo-Kan Regional Council of Amateur Radio Organizations will be running an Elmers’ Table at the Ararat Shrine Hambash (http://hambash.com) on April 20th. The Elmers’ Table is a place where any Ham, but particularly New Hams can come to ask questions, find a club to join, or be introduced to a Elmer who can assist them with their goals on the Amateur Radio Experience. Support During the Hamfest: We still need people to assist in working this table. While many slots have been filled, we particularly need help during the 10:30 to 11:00 AM Time, and the 11:30 AM to Noon Time, as no one has claimed these two slots at all. Additional help is needed to have full coverage during 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM, 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM, 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Please go to the Sign Up Genius page at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0B45AAAC2CA5FF2-mokan to claim your spot! List of Elmers: One of the aims of the Elmers’ Table is to match up Hams with an Elmer who has experience in the specialty needed. The response for such Elmers has been outstanding! Thank You! We can’t have too many Elmers, so by all means, if you have not signed up yet, please do so by sending me an email with your: • Name • Call Sign • Email Address • Telephone Number • Area of Expertise or Subject Matter Feel free to provide any comments, such as the area where you reside, or preferred contact method, etc. We will provide the requesting ham with a card with contact information for the Elmer he or she should contact, then the dialog can be started between the “Master and the Student.” Thank You for all your support for this project! 73 Randy Schulze – KDØHKD Chairman, Mo-Kan Regional Council of Amateur Radio Organizations <rschulze@...> ......end snipped copy......... These are heavy, expensive, and need to be guyed, but I can replace my dipole ropes without leaving the ground or shooting a projectile at the neighbor's house. It was worth the peace of mind for me. https://mgs4u.com/product/mk-6-series-43-3ft-masts/ Bill KV6Z

Re: A power pack for AAs and NiMh AA batteries
Don't know about the 40 ft pushup pole, but SOTA has a 32 ft lightweight pushup pole, also I found a shorter pole (mini) available in the U.S. at DX Engineering. URL is way too long, so Tiny URL is used here: and here are a bunch of fiberglass poles and etc ...... you can custom build your own design: I do not endorse or am not pecuniary attached to the above companies / URLs.

Re: SK George Dobbs
Rev George was the kind of person that if the church he pastored was close to me I would have considered changing and I have attended the same Wesleyan Church for 45 years. He was so approachable and kind spirited. He responded to my emails quickly and with good advice. I have collected most of his writings in the radio realm and consider them precious and understandable. We have lost a great one.

Convenient little DC input switching adapter
Latest little project from the "Triumvirate Skonk Worx" (W0EB, W2CTX, N5IB)
Just got the boards in and all the kit parts for this little adapter. It allows the DC input to be connected through an optional Reverse Polarity (series Schottky diode), the switch on the volume control (or separate switch) and the switched DC output to whatever item is being powered, to be connected through a small PC board using MOLEX or MOLEX Style male/female connectors. This allows for everything to be plugged in and also unplugged for ease of troubleshooting without having to solder or unsolder wires from the rig's terminals. TSW is making just the bare board or a full kit of parts available. Full details are on the TSW website (www.w0eb.com) but here is the "Construction Manual" in PDF form so you can see what it's all about. Jim, W0EB TSW
