Terry,

Thanks for quick, but rough contact through the PSK QRM.
I first tried calling you with my cricket, but no go.
Then I switched to Elecraft KX1.

I'm Very sorry to hear of Jerry's passing.
Love his little keys he designed.
I shared a seat next to him at a Buildathon a few years ago, quite a entertaining fellow!
My condolences to his Family.

The loss of a friend is seldom anticipated, nor is it easy to accept, and the loss of Jerry Haigwood is no exception. I first met Jerry at CactusCon in Flagstaff, AZ many years ago.  He attended and spoke at Ocon several times. He suffered from long and difficult health issues.  It is with sadness that I post John Steven's, K5JS, note below.

It is with profound sadness that I must report that Jerry passed away in Dallas this evening from pneumonia. This was a complication caused by his failing liver that was finally to be replaced in the very near future.

Jerry was a long time ScQRPion and designed a number of kits to benefit the club. Best known was the series of miniature solid brass paddles and his larger Black Widow. Others included a Class E transmitter and a mic preamp.

Jerry and his XYL had moved to the piney woods of East Texas near Longview a few years ago to be closer to all the kids and grandkids.  He retired from Honeywell Aerospace in Phoenix after many years of avionics software and hardware engineering.

It was an honor to have him as a friend and a pleasure to be able to visit with them on fairly frequent trips to Dallas. There was nothing he would not do to help others.

Services will be in Gilmer, Texas on Wednesday, April 26, 2017.

Take Christ's hand and rest in peace, old friend. You are missed already.

Wow.  Bad news.  I had the good fortune of sitting next to him and building the Ozark Patrol with him.  We cracked a lot of jokes and after meeting him we swapped emails and he sent me pic boards in the mail.  My favorite audio amp these days is his design.  Jerry was a strong Christian so we will meet again... Godspeed Jerry.  Save me a seat buddy.

Cricket Offset

GM Joe, tnx for the note.

I'm shooting for abt 600 cycles or so offset. I'm at ~450 offset now with 26.7.  I think I'll wind up with abt 33p at C15.    Let me how how it goes for you.  We should be able to work each other easily around 7;15-7:30 most nights.  Give a shout if you want to give it a try.

Good fun isnt it.

Had to call it quits, the high powered digital signals were killing me, think I'll plug in a 3560 xtal the next time.  80 is actually pretty good 4sqrp Cricket territory beginning abt 7P or so.
I did have a nice qso with Chas, NK8O. He was solid copy with only W1AW to contend with, no problem. Tnx agn Chas.

Working on a small mod to nudge the rcvr freq a bit in order to better match the stations coming back to match up with my particular ears.  Will share that on the Cricket Group

Cricket 80 plans?

Hi all,

I bought a Cricket 80 kit at Ozarkcon, but didn't realize the building manual wasn't online yet. I'd like to get started building it but I don't know where everything goes. Does anyone have a parts placement diagram or schematic (both would be great) they could email me?

The signal was crisp and rock steady.  I must admit the filter on the KX3 was helpful.  A decrease in RF gain, a 50 Hz bandwidth.  Oh, how we can be easily spoiled.
