Yes, it uses (2) filamentless 2N3019's.
By the way, they eliminated the sockets.
Just follow the instructions.  It's a fun kit.

Was playing around with my modern version of the Bayou Jumper (the
"Chickenhawker" - SS40HT/SS40TX in a Hobby Lobby box with a DDS VFO) a
little while ago. Heard TX5EG out in the South Pacific (Marquesas
Island DXpedition) calling CQ. He wasn't very strong but I called him
anyway and he must have had a very low noise level as he came right
back. Already had Marquesas confirmed but not QRP. Best DX so far with
the Chickenhawker. 2000+ miles.

Hi,

Today the Michigan QRP Club held it's annual club picnic. Everybody had
a great time. I won an Ozark Patrol kit. When I looked in the bag of
parts it looks pretty nice but some of the parts are missing. Can
anybody tell me what kind of tubes it is supposed to have? The tubes and
sockets are missing. I have quite few tubes and I can probably
substitute tubes I already have if I know what types it uses.

I suppose I will have to just hand fit two or three tubes and adjust

Apologies for the late posting - it's been a helluva week at work.

I, along with NK6A, will be hanging out in the 20 acre wood tomorrow evening, looking to hand out as many pelts as possible.

I'll be somewhere between 14050 and 14070 kHz, calling CQ and listening up ~1 kHz until the baying thins out.

I'll be running a K2 @ 5w to either a doublet or 2 el. mini beam @ 40'.

Good luck to all!

Re: DDS Potential kit ???

Nick-WA5BDU

Here's a DDS to tube type TX thing I did a few years ago ...

http://pages.suddenlink.net/wa5bdu/dds_amp.htm

I think just to drive a tube, I might just drop the 4:1 transformer at the collector of the IRF510A and just come right off of the 0.1 uF capacitor.

Check AA8V QST article and website for info on using a dds to drive a tube transmitter.  Greg is a physics prof and has interesting tube projects and information.

Others can comment on dds vfo kits currently sold.

I use an old fcc1/2 as a test item item but it hasn't been used with a rig.

Re: DDS Potential kit ???

Bob Macklin <macklinbob@...>

You may need an amplifier to get enough voltage to drive a tube transmitter

I've been thinking about putting a similar DDS VFO in a Heathkit HG-10 case.
The LCD display would work fine in the HG-10 case and the original HG-10 switches could be used.

The low voltage DC could be derived from the 6.3VAC and the DC HV could be used for a tube buffer.

Seeing this DDS VFO and wishing for one

over the last few months, has given me the
idea of maybe 4sqrp making a kit for one.
I know the subject of QRP is the main goal,
but could one of these babies be used for
a hollow state transmitter???   Such as the
