I'm using the newest wsjt-x on a Raspberry PI.  Just download & run the install.  Using Signalink and my Argonaut V. The program itself will show you what frequencies to use.

No QRP trailer at Brutus this year?

Indeed, K1JT is a genius!  ( And a Nobel Prize winning Astrophysicist )lol.  With the poor band condx here with CW, I have been using JT65, JT9 and now FT8 (which seems to have supplanted JT9).  What a blast!  Using WSJT-X through a SignalLink hooked to my K2 at 5W works very well.   Using https://pskreporter.info/pskmap.html will show who in the world is hearing your signal, refreshed every minute.

Fast-paced making QSOs, immediate gratification.  Easy to use and the price is right (free).

I don’t have any screen shots but if you are set up with any digital modes or programs, like Fldigi or any of the others, there is no special setup for FT8.  The only thing I found was that the audio drive levels were slightly different on my KX2 with WSJT-X program than with Fldigi.

I use FT8 and it is an easy setup if you use the latest version of WSJT-X . JT Alert is a nice accessory if you are looking for awards or certain stations or areas .

Facebook has an FT8 group also.

It's time for another NCS to step up and run the 40m Wednesday evening net. I am stepping away from this duty, permanently, due largely to personal circumstances. I'd planned that the nets recommence on October 2nd. That's a couple of weeks to sort out another NCS.

Re: FS: The Deluxe Tenna Dipper

David Wilcox

A real neat item.  I recently pulled my original TennaDipper and Deluxe TennaDipper out of a drawer and showed them to some club members explaining where we had been and come from before all the newer antenna analyzers.  Also showed them a noise bridge and grid dipper........ We didn't know that we were limited back then and our radios still worked well to communicate.  Now we fuss over reactance, swr, resistance vs capacitance, etc., and don't have time to get on and talk. Hi!  We get lost in the maze of Smith charts.

The Deluxe TennaDipper is still a good instrument for antenna tuning.

Well, who says the bands were bad last weekend? We had 12 people make
entries for Sunday's SSS and only one of them failed to make any
contacts. We also had three people who entered the contest for the
first time: David (K5IX), Mark (WG8Y), and Ed (WG5F). Welcome to those
three. The winner for September was John (K4BAI) with 25 points. John
was followed by Bill (KV6Z) with 21 points and Chas (NK8O) with 14
points. The overall leader for 2017 is Bill (KV6Z) with 149 points,
followed by John (K4BAI) with 107 and Chas (W2SH) with 106. In fourth
place overall is Gary (KF7WNS) with 95 points. With 3 months to go, I
believe each of these 4 people has a chance of finishing the year in
first place. And, barring a major upset, all but one will get a
certificate (1st, 2nd, or 3rd). This could be an exciting race to the
finish!

John (K4BAI) should expect to receive his September first place
certificate shortly.

Thanks to all who participated in the September SSS.

Suggestion: can the current "4SQRP - Four State QRP" group's description be modified to add the URL of the club's web page?

I expect that the Facebook group might attract some newcomers... seems to me we should inform visitors of the Facebook splash page to visit the web site, where they can learn all about the club, even if they don't click "join".

Yep!

A lot of people who are anti-FB don't seem to understand how it works and the control they actually have.  And to amplify (only to 5 Watts!) Dale's comments, the real-time back and forth on FB during the Foxhunts simply can't happen via an email forum like Yahoo.
