SMD beginners kit?
Ge all
I want to tell you that we are considering a beginners SMD keyer Kit. Designer by Craig AA0ZZ and very similar in function to the EZ keyer line up. Very small only about 1X1 inches, uses internal power from the rig, will produce a side tone to the rigs audio, and the push buttons can be mounted off the board to save space. We think it would be a great confidence builder, as well as a functional kit for small space challenged QRP rigs. Your feed back is welcome! 72 Johnny -- QRP....."More smiles per Watt" JOHNNY AC0BQ ..72

Will be a few weeks, Craig is converting his ez keyer design into SMD. Won't be very many parts and will be very small. I'm going to try to shoot a demo video on how to "cook" the paste solder in a cheap wal mart skillet! I hope it gives some us some confidence!! Thanks 72 Johnny

Re: New SMD "beginners kit"
Hi Johnny That's a great idea. I have been shying away from SMD, but time to get my feet wet. I could actually use two right now for a couple of projects. 72, Gary/KF7WNS

On the air anyone?
Good evening:
I was just wondering if anyone has been on the air today? I was doing computer stuff this morning and 40m was open to eastern MO and Central MI! I worked a new CW op and a more seasoned one on 7.122. Tells me I need to monitor more often. I guess this proves the bands might be ok if we call CQ or monitor them now and then. I plan to be listening on 40 tomorrow morning with coffee on hand. Listen for me or call CQ. 72 Johnny ACOBQ -- QRP....."More smiles per Watt" JOHNNY AC0BQ ..72

New SMD "beginners kit"
Bulk order of aa0zz receiver 8:03 pm David .. Tom, WA0ITP, me (34) Cynthia I am sure it's after business hours, but please let me know tomorrow if this worked. If not we will try something else! Thanks Johnny AC0BQ On Monday, September 12, 2016, Johnny Matlock We're thinking about offering a SMD "beginners" kit to our line up for those who have never tried, or want to try their hand at SMD kit building, without breaking the bank! It would be a very small usable AA0ZZ keyer that would fit in almost any existing QRP rig you may have. It's foot print would be less than 1" square, powered by the rigs power, with 1 or 2 push buttons that would be mounted off the circuit board in a location that's convenient. What do you think?? 72 Johnny AC0BQ -- QRP....."More smiles per Watt" JOHNNY AC0BQ ..72 Walter - K5EST Nice idea, and the cost would allow building just for fun, even if the keyer was never put in a rig. Sure would like to see an 80 meter CW transmit... W WA0ITP to me 24 minutes ago Details Sounds good Johnny, also sounds like Craig is proceeding. 72 WAØITP
I love this radio stuff.

I'm just north of Ron, AG1P, in Newport, Oregon. Just about every day here seems to settle in the low 60's with a somewhat chilly ocean breeze! We've been here a couple of weeks now, and will be here for the rest of the month before heading back to AZ. Coming to Oregon in the summer is our annual event to get away from the AZ summer heat. We love September here!

Clear night with gusty 15 mph north wind and down to 50 tonight. Certain weeds have already given up the ghost, but only the rare tree shows signs of turning. Hints of fall here in mid-coast Maine! Chip AE5KA

Hope I didn't let you down -- since you asked us to log in even if we scored zero... I did.I tuned around for > 30 minutes. Tried to work one guy but lost the fight with someone else. But I was fried -- I was up early, had been to the Cards game, and by the time 7pm came around the beer was beginning to wear off :-) Next month I'll do better! Jeff
