That is a very good reason to drop the PSK nets.  You've got your priorities straight.  But don't feel you even need a good reason.  You've run the nets for quite some time now.  Maybe someone else who's active in the PSK nets could take over.  If not, a round robin net might be fun.

Hope your XYL recovers fully.  I know those treatments are sometimes pretty rough.  Good luck.

I would  suggest startup this fall and round robin the net.
I will be glad to assist and would do a special session anytime you suggest on 40M or 80M.

Paul and Johnny (and everyone else):

The 80M PSK net listed on the website is out of date. The PSK net has
been held on 40M (7070.5) for several months. However, last week, the
PSK net control, Dick (N0TGR), announced that he had to suspend the net
indefinitely. I don't think he gave a reason. He suggested either
someone else pick it up or else have a "round robin" net. Tom (W0MFQ)
and I just got our KX3's all set up with cables to try out PSK about a
week ago (bad timing). I wasn't heard on the net last week and Tom was
still trying 80M. Unless someone volunteers to be net control, I
suggest we do what Dick suggests, make it a round robin get-together,
sort of like several people on a local 2M repeater. At least try that
for a few weeks to see what the response is.

Jeff,

For the first hour I had bad QRN, but for the final half hour condx were pretty much noise free.

I heard only a bit of your callsign, "NØII", at ØØ22Z and called that with a ?.  I didn't hear your response.  Still, we might well have QSO'd near the sprint's end.

Even if QSOs aren't being made,  I open up the bandwidth on 7.122 mHz and listen on the speaker.  As a result I QSO'd three 4SQRP members in the final 37 minutes.

Although 20m was pretty dead around 14.Ø6Ø mHz at the sprint's start, I did hear a CA station there at Ø11ØZ.

I admire your tri-band enthusiasm.

In summer few bother to listen on 80m, and in August the band is unfairly neglected.  From NJ I regularly QNI the Michigan QRP net Tuesdays at 2100 ET on 3.535 mHz throughout the summer.  Of course condx improve considerably beginning with the autumnal equinox.

A few years ago, while aestivating in NH in early September,  I tied the open-wire feeders of a 135' dipole up 50' together at the base, with NO ground radials, and fed it through an antenna tuner in the vacation cabin. I worked western Europe easily on 80m.

As for tonight in NJ, thunderstorms had moved through here just before the 4S sprint began, and plenty of QRN remained.  20m pooped out within the first 45 minutes of the sprint.  QRN was intense on 40m, but I hung in and by the end I'd QSO'd a member in OR and a couple of member stations in central USA.

Hope we'll QSO in the next few months.  I heard you clearly tonight on 40m but my calls didn't result in a QSO.

GM Sean,

Thank you for purchasing the HPM, it's a great filter.

It was originally designed for 9, but Dave mentioned sometime ago that 12 would be ok.   14 volts would be crowding the 15 volt absolute max rating of the LM386, and only the higher powered LM386N-4 has a higher supply voltage rating (22v) The TLC274 would be ok at 14 as it is rated at 18 volts.

Suggest that you limit your supply voltage to 12 volts max, to be safe.  Hope this helps

From the chatter on the reflector, I guess last night wasn't a good
night for propagation. Our bad weather hadn't started when the SSS
began, so I bravely reattached my antenna and listened on 7.122. All I
heard were some weird digital signals. I tuned around, didn't hear
anyone, but left the radio on while doing other stuff. Sure enough, the
digital signal went quiet and I could hear W2SH. For a few minutes, he
had a good signal (579). We exchanged info, then he faded into oblivion
toward the end of the QSO. But the info was exchanged and the QSO was
logged.

If you are one of the lucky ones who made a contact or two, don't forget
to enter it into the log. And, like last month, even if you didn't have
any luck, but you tried, I'd stiill like you to enter the log (with 0
QSOs), so we can see how much participation there is in this monthly
contest.

I'll wait until Wednesday before declaring the winner, to give everyone
a chance to enter their score.

According to my rain gauge, we had 0.5" of rain yesterday and an
additional 3" today since midnight (6 hours ago). The weather
forecasters promise more to come today and tomorrow.

Hi Per Mite Power Question

Sean Edwards

I just built the kit and now I have a question about powering it. The silk screen on the PCB says 9v and the schematic says 12v. Is one correct and the other wrong, or can the supply voltage range from 9 - 14 volts? Does performance or operation change with voltage?
