Re: NOTICE OF RADIO SETUP/OPERATION FROM "NOWHERE" IN KANSAS

Phil Anderson

Hey All,

We made 88 contacts, yes on SSB at 100 watts, from about 9:30 through 11:30 ish, all on 20 meters. We used my old backup YEASU rig, FT450D with tuner and it did a good job. Signals were hot and we got lots of 59 reports, most likely due to good prop and early morning op time. I called CQ only three times and established a frequency which we held until 11:30........several pileups through the morning.

T'was fun. Nearly all of the contacts were up and down the Eastern states, Canada, TX and the western states. We worked ~half the states. Clearly the vertical delta loop liked NE and SW and we jumped over all of the Midwestern states except TX. Of course the best thing about the outing was the HOT DOGS and the antenna slingshot launch into the trees!

A local club member had brought his delta loop which we used. I'm going to model it with EZNEC to see what the expected pattern is. Never used one before.

OK, I admit it, back to CW this week, hi.

72, Unc Phil/w0xi
