This only replaces the knob though, correct?  You still use the existing pot.  Someone posted one with a reduction drive.  I wouldn't go throgh all the trouble to just put a neat looking knob (not that I am above an aesthetic mod) but would be for a more the ability to make finer/slower adjustments.

You know this will sound totally dumb but these are on of my favorite things in ham DIY in the world. Don't get me wrong - I love microcontrollers and all the neat stuff we have (I am a computer geek for a living after all). But there is just something about the mechanical "feel" of a Vernier dial. We need to figure out how to build them into encoders now. LOL.
