I have one schedule with KF5NBY with PSK31 at 0100 UTC (7 p.m. CST) tonight around 10.141 MHz. If anyone is interested in copying or better yet working me, check that frequency at that time and later.

Last evening, from the time I put the notice on the 4sqrp reflector, I called CQ on 10.141 PSK31 for about 25 minutes and then got a North Carolina station answering me and giving me a 599 report. A short time later QSB and QRM both made copying difficult. So I know I'm getting out with my 3 or 4 watts.

I'll listen (look) for other calls after KF5NBY and I conclude our QSO, assuming we make it.

Rain/lightning may delay this schedule, unpredictable here and lightning suddenly sneaks up on ya. I'll be open for other skeds on 40 thru 10 meters until Tuesday morning. It usually rains here between about noon and 4 pm CST (we're on EST here). That's my siesta time.

I'm down to operating QRP here in western Panama, the 100 watt amplifier and other things including laptop have been acting up, so decided to do fully QRP with my Flex 1500.

This is rainy season here, so almost every afternoon I unplug the antenna and do other things besides ham radio. Unfortunately this is also probably the best time for the upper HF bands! The lightning has a habit of suddenly appearing, so I just unplug to be on the safe side and I don't really like to unplug the coax when lightning is present (I don't want to be Ben Franklin Jr.).

Best time for me is probably after about 4 p.m. CST. I'm on equivalent of EST (GMT-5) here. Mornings would usually be OK, after about 6 a.m. CST.

I can operate 40 - 30 - 20 - 17 - 15 but am unsure about 12 and 10 meters (long story, some other time). PSK31 and other digital modes supported by FLdigi, CW (from keyboard only since rig cannot be keyed externally -- another Murphy trick), and SSB. I am rusty on all modes!

So if interested in trying for the Republic of Panama on QRP, specially the HP3 district, I'll be here a few more days. Antenna take down is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon (when not lightning). Please use the email address don@panama.noark.net to be sure I can weed it out from all the spam.

PS - my 24 minutes of CQing tonight on 10.041 PSK31 finally netted a station in North Carolina with 599 report, so my few watts are getting somewhere!

PPS - Consult voacap.com for prop predictions. Just use HP for my location.

I am on 10.141 MHz with BPSK31 for a while if anyone cares to try a QSO with me. Running QRP. Time: 6:43 pm CST right now, will hang around for a half hour or so.

Wow, did I bite off more than I could chew.  It has been more than a quarter of a century since I called a cw net and it certainly showed this morning.  I was hoping no one would respond to a screwed up CQ for the net but several did and stuck with me through all the mistakes.  I apologize for all the messed up call signs all of which I know very well having heard everyone check into the various nets and I believe I have had one on one QSO’s with each and exchanged email with you also.  My mind went into PANIC mode:-(  Thanks to those that stuck with me!  Hopefully Terry will be back next week!!!

Sri to be so long posting this.  Excellent net, thanks to all.  There were two first timers, KB5CO Carey, and K4BAI John.  Many of us have worked K4BAI.  John is a well known contester and Fox and is a super op.  Thanks to both of you, appreciate it.

K5JS, John Stevens nearly made it in.  Deep QSB took him out almost immediately after I made out his call.  John's is a long time friend and the former prime mover of the AZ ScQRPions now living Prairieville, LA.  Hope to hear you next weel John.

This coming Sunday is the 2nd Sunday of the month, which means it's time for the "SECOND SUNDAY SPRINT". This is the first sprint of the new 2014-15 cycle. Everyone's cumulative score is now reset to 0. In other words, we are all tied for 1st place!

REMEMBER: The person with the highest cumulative score between November, 2014 and September, 2015 is allowed to use the club callsign (WQ5RP) for the October, 2015 4x4 sprint.

Here are the details, which should be familiar to all by now:

Date/time: Sunday, 9 Nov, 2014, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm CST (0100 - 0300Z Monday). (DST ended on 2 November.)
Bands: 160M through 10M, no WARC bands or 60M.
Frequencies: The usual QRP watering holes - don't forget 7122 kHz and 3564 kHz.
Power: 5 Watts maximum.
Mode: CW or sideband.
Exchange: RST, SPC, and member number (members) or RST, SPC, power (non-members).
Calling CQ: "CQ 4S" recommended.

Note: Contacts with the same station on different bands are allowed. The sideband and CW portions of a band count as the same band (change from last year, to better align with the 4x4 contest rules). This is the only change from last year's rules. Since nobody had any sideband contacts last year, it shouldn't be too controversial.

Reporting:
Add up your QSOs for each band/mode and send them to me.

With that in mind, a typical report would be:

You do not need to list the stations contacted. But if you make an exotic contact, you might as well brag about it in an optional bragging section at the bottom of your submittal. I'll include comments when I report the scores (no extra credit).

When you've totaled your score, please send it to: secondsundaysprint@4sqrp.com. Put "Sprint" in the subject line. Please avoid "replying" to one of my emails. The sprint results go to a separate mailbox, devoted to these sprints. Send the results by Tuesday evening. I'll tally everything and publish them on this reflector as soon as possible. I suggest you send them in shortly after 9:00 pm Sunday so you don't forget. If you see a mistake or omission when I publish the results, let me know and I'll fix it.

Keep this email until after you've submitted your score for Sunday. Remember, the person with the most SSS contacts between November, 2014 and September, 2015 will be allowed to use the club's callsign, WQ5RP, for the 4X4 sprint in October, 2015.

The SSS rules are posted on the 4SQRP website, under "4SQRP On Air Activities", just in case you delete this email.
