Hi-Per-Mite: Wide Band Mod

w0rw

Edited

Has anyone done a simple Hi-Per-Mite narrow/wide bandwidth modification?
I want to be able to widen the bandwidth to about 1 kHz and then switch it back to 200 Hz when needed.
I am just looking for a way to unbalance the opamps with a single line and not introducing any  hum.
I don't want to do a full by-pass with a switch or have to rebalance the audio gain levels.
I have checked the archives and blogs and only seen references to guys who wanted to do the same.
My Hi-Per-Mite filter is in my repurposed BC-221.
Update.....  5 Sept.
No suggestions....so I am just going to use a switch to switch the audio amp input from the filter output to the Rx audio output.

OT: For Sale SIGLENT SSA-3021X Spectrum Analyzer

Jim Sheldon

I find I don't use this any more as the project it was originally purchased for has ended and I'd rather it go to someone that can use it.

SIGLENT SSA3021X Spectrum Analyzer, 9KHz - 2.1 GHz, and yes, it has the tracking generator. Slightly less than 10 hours of use on it. Currently sells for $1395 on Amazon. I'm asking $1200 shipped anywhere in the Continental US (no export).

Please contact me off the reflector for further details or with an "I'll take it". First "I'll take it" gets right of first refusal. Email address is w0eb (at) cox dot net.

Hate to sell this, but at my age I'll probably not need it again. Oh yes, I would prefer PayPal for the payment if you buy it.

Thanks,

Hi Bobby,
Before you swap out the cap, maybe it is being tied up by the mounting screws?
Try loosening the mounting screws, see if it becomes free to turn?

Have a great day,

I agree. I'd also love to see what it does for the Murania.

Re: Nouveau 75 Update

I do not know about others, but I am assuming it is using the same
3 holes the IC unit is working. . .Thus, it seems like this same
board may be a great benefit for those who may want to try
it on the Murania AM receiver.

I am only guessing here. If I am right, I wouldn't mind purchasing
one to install on my Murania.

Thanks to all for patience as we work to provide the fix for the Nouveau 75 distortion problem.  I have a retrofit design of a drop-in board to replace the TA7642 that has shown great results in preliminary testing.  I have received parts and PCBs, and after thorough testing and documentation, will send these to those who have purchased kits, and include these in the remaining kits from this first production lot.  Expect first boards to ship in about a week.

ARRL directors need to hear from you....NOW!!

dualraoul

The recent ARRL board minutes,
<http://www.arrl.org/files/file/2019%20Board%20of%20Directors/Final%20Minutes%20July%202019.pdf> ,
recommend corralling all the email robot stations (minute 31) to the current ACDS sub bands.
It is important for the survival of cw, and all narrow band modes operating in the RTTY/Data
amateur radio sub bands, that the ARRL directors hear from each one of you on the issue.

Winlink has charged their supporters to get “angry” and contact their directors to oppose confining
all automatic activity to the defined ACDS sub bands. If you’ve ever had one of these robots get
activated on top of your QSO’s you know what the problem is. Winlink is also opposed to the idea that
all digital amateur transmissions should be open to copy over the air.

As of now I’ve seen some rather venomous emails on other lists from the emcomm “save the world”
crowd and the blue water boating forums are lighting up in response to the “get angry” Winlink request.
At stake is loss of free email for the boaters, and the emcomm contingent believes they have a
“statutory obligation” to ply their trade. Emcomm is important but it’s a voluntary activity, not an obligation.

Please contact your ARRL division director and anyone else you can think of to counter the “get angry”
request by Winlink, unless you want the bands to turn into a Winlink email free fire zone. Those of you
that can remember what RM-11306 tried to do, Winlink everywhere, including the phone bands, know
what’s at stake if the Winlink bunch flood the directors and don’t hear from anyone else.

Full disclosure, I’m the author of FCC RM-11831 that sort of kicked off this firestorm.
Feel free to cross post this to any lists that may have an interest in defeating the
“get angry” Winlink spectrum take over. You may see this more than once.

Re: 80 meter Net Report

Johnny,

Russ, K3NLT in VA and I in NJ have 60-70 minutes more darkness than you in the 4S heartland.  We both could hear you and we both called you several times during your fine stewardship of tonight's 80m net.  It was only as time wore on that you caught up with some more darkness and with your fine ears you heard us before you closed the net.

Take heart, it will only get better and a significant turning point is the autumnal equinox which occurs on September 23rd.
