I have used the hayfield, cornfield, the south end of the parking
lot, and even a gallon jug - all ok at night :o) ok ok too much
info I know.
"Wish they would leave the door open to the inside facilities" I think this would allow access to the whole museum so I'm sure they won't do that. Arnie You're not camping in the Transit this year? Brutus bash - got it booked!
ka0ncr
Hi Group, Just got off the phone with the "PTB" at Brutus and have a tent spot reserved. $7.50 a night doesn't seem bad. I think it is the same as last year. I do hope
that they have done something with the outies though.. Last year a 4 AM trip to the "spider shelter" in the dark with nothing but my camp "head light" to see by made me think that the field across the road would have been a better idea! Wish they would leave the door open to the inside facilities... at least at night while the 4sqrp group is camped there! First time Brutus bash campers be warned! ;P I was going to stop by there this Friday on the way down to the Joplin hamfest, but now that I have a spot reserved there is not really a need for it.. Although I still might stop by there since I will be traveling with my dad and I think he might like to spend a few minutes looking at Brutus. We will see how time treats us on the way down.. if we are running early we might stop.. My dad is K0SCN, and while he would like to attend the bash, he's 92 and would probably not like sleeping out on the
ground much:.. so this would be a chance for him to see it. I hope to bring a few items to 'tailgate' again this year. Not sure what yet... Maybe a few kits that I have on the "yet to build" shelf should be brought out. into the light of day for someone who might have a better chance of getting time to put them together.... I Hope to see a few of the 4sqrp group at Joplin this weekend! . 73 - Arnie KA0NCR ( PTB = Powers that be )

K0B was it. I agree on using the club call.
Looking forward to it. Great fun on the great plains of KS.

If I remember correctly it was K0B? I am pretty sure Bart reserved it for the event. When Brutus first began there wasn't a club call yet. I think it would be fun to use the Club call since we have one now?
Any thoughts? I better get to calling, sounds like its gonna be a sell out! Hope to cu all there. 72 Johnny AC0BQ

Last year, everyone pretty much used their own callsigns from what I remember. Using the club call wouldn't be bad either - it was just something I thought about and wondered if anyone else had any interest! Jeremy, NQ0M

Just a thought guys - but 2 years ago someone obtained a 1x1 Special Event call for the Brutus Bash - we did not do that last year - is there any interest at all in having one again this year? I'd be willing to do the reservation if anyone's interested in doing it again this year! WA6CML just called and made my reservation, so I'll be at spot #9 this year. Looking forward to seeing everyone!Jeremy, NQ0M

It actually is on my list to try to make this year. I always have a
long trip the week before the event, and it does take my old body a
few days to recover now, after any trip.
Can't count the number of times in my life that I have been past it,but have never been to it. Really looking forward to meeting many of you in person and I am quite sure I could find a couple of things to set out to part with and hopefully not find any new replacements :) Charlie, W5COV On 8/18/2014 11:34 AM, Paul Smith

I will be there this year, of course. I will probably call them this afternoon to make my reservations. I plan to get in sometime early Friday afternoon, and stay until Sunday. Mini-hamfest sounds like a good idea – that was a lot of fun last year.

The Big Brutus weekend is coming up fast, it's Sept 12 and 13. The campground electrical and water hookups and the camping fee is $15. $10 for tents with no hookups. I just made my reservation for Friday and Saturday nights, leaving on Sunday.
Pse make your reservations soon, there are only 10 sites with hookups. . Hunting season starts that weekend and we need to beat the hunters in reserving the spots. Also if you're a fisherman, the flood strip mine pits are excellent fishing, you'll probably limit out on big largemouths. Should we do a mini hamfest like last year? Who all is planning to come? -- 72 WAITP I love this radio stuff. www.wa0itp.com wa0itp@wa0itp.com www.4sqrp.com

Thanks to you Terry, Dale, and Johnny for your well-wishes. Also, thank you to Walt for the last 2 years of the Banner. I just finished re-reading a lot of the back issues, and I only hope I can do as well as Walt did during that time – he left some pretty big shoes to fill!
Please everyone, let me know what *YOU* are interested in seeing out of the Banner! As Terry mentioned, I can be reached for now at jerutley@... – Walt told me he’s planning to pass on the ozarkqrpbanner@... address to me as well, so you can use that too. Let me know about your latest build projects, that funky antenna that shouldn’t work but does, funny stories, whatever the case may be! September’s Banner is right around the corner!
Thanks again, all!

Yes a big signal. I took my PFR3 to Blackwater Falls State Park and worked him also from our cabin. I strung up an OCF dipole and exercised each of the bands on this rig. Of course we hiked and saw much of this scenic high elevation (by east standards ...) place - and I just did radio in the evenings.CUL Curt
