No takers today, the band is in bad shape with the A index at 47. Must have
been a CME on the sun. I hear very few signals on 40 and those are weak. This doesnt bode well for the 80M Fox Hunt tonight either. Next week will be better. Re: 7122 Net
Spaceweather.com is reporting a big M class flare and a geomagnetic storm as well! 40 is so long even now that the West coast stations are still running S7-9 at 10 a.m. Even in-state CW signals on 160 and 80 were so weak as to be unreadable at 5 this morning while Shin, JA1NUT, was 20 over 9 for a while on 40!

Hello Jim and Terry, Thanks for your quick and competent replay. So I will go this way and have a reason to get some solder smoking and putting the magic box together. I have understood the mechanism and will look at the schematics of the Ultimate 3. There is one line coming from the Atmel which triggers the pa. Perhaps I can use this signal. Have to ask Hans. I have troubles getting into my Yahoo groups since several weeks. Even if I want to reset my password, they will not accept a password of any kind. So could you please send the schematic via email? Thanks for your kindness And all the Best Hajo ---

Greetings Hajo, I am not an engineer, so bare with me:No problem. What causes the transmitter to come on the air? Is the signal that makes that happen available to the outside of the Ultimate 3? So I wanted to listen and report to wspr with another receiver, but I haveThe MagicBox could switch the antenna for you, so to speak so that when the Ultimate 3 isn't using the antenna, the receiver can be. Yes, that's exactly what it does, but it needs a signal from the transmitter to tell the MagicBox that the WSPR transmission is going to happen. The maximum output is 200 mW, but normally I use between 10 -100 mW.No problem there. So I am looking for some sort of HF sniffer which triggers the magicNo, you need the signal from the Ultimate 3 that causes it to transmit and use that signal to key the MagicBox and cause it to go from receive mode to transmit mode. The MagicBox keys using a voltage being grounded, like closing a key. See above. 72 and have fun, Jim, K8IQY

Magic Box Modification.
Hajo Dezelski <dl1sdz@...>
Hello, Currently I am experimenting a lot with Wspr using the Ultimate 3 from Hans Summers.(See activities on my blog.) I only transmit in a time frame of 10 minutes once and have the other 8 minutes free. So I wanted to listen and report to wspr with another receiver, but I have only one antenna. So I remembered a kit, which is still unsoldered: the magic box. My question: Is there a way that I can connect the tx and the Rx so that the Rx is automatically muted when the wspr tx starts to make it's transmission. The maximum output is 200 mW, but normally I use between 10 -100 mW. Any ideas which can be performed by an amateur? 72 de ---

Mornin' Unc, Most (if not all) logging programs have the facility to export in ADIF format. I use GenLog for the NAQCC sprints and export in ADIF so that I can add to my ACLog. By the way, ACLog and the others in his suite are all compatible (by the way N3FJP is Scott Davis). It will interface with your FT450 to grab frequency and mode. He's up to 4.6 currently and his support is terrific.

Interesting Curt and TNX.............4sqrp is a real resource!

I'm about settled on using both LOTW and eQSL, seems that of the tens of reponses I've gotten, mostly from this reflector. have gone that way. Makes sense. I'm curious about the ADIF format and will look into that just for fun. I'm also about settled on using the Amateur Contact Log, AC4.x, by Dave Cole, N3FJP. Read a good review on that at NK7Z's blog page - http://nk7z.net/ Our local club, W0UK, has used an older version of N3FJP's Field Day program for contesting. I want a compatible contesting program to go along with AC4.x.......or some other combination, so your comments are helpful. TNX agn. 72, Phil Anderson, W0XI Lawrence, KS wb8yyy@... wrote:
