I was listening and I heard WA9…  I suspect it was WA9PWP, but I didn’t hear anything after that.  I didn’t hear a peep out of anyone else.

I didn’t hear a sound.  I figured when I worked a station in MI around 1700 local that the band was going to go down the tubes. We were 2x QRP but when we wrapped it up, he was fading away.  Not a single dit was heard here at net time.

How about some of us try 160M just for a test.

Tenna Dipper

Hello all,

I have built an old tenna dipper and for some reason nothing seems to tune up right. Changing the dips doesn't seem to do much and the pot adjustments only have a few hundred Hz. Could the age of some of the parts be causing an issue?

Any ideas or pointers would be well received.

Re: Tenna Dipper

Johnny Matlock

Hello David
It’s been years since we built and used the dippers.

I doubt that the parts have aged enough to cause any issues, unless they were abused, or got wet?

I’m going to take a shot at helping you.
First thing with building a kit is to check for correct parts in the correct holes.
Don’t forget to check the orientation of the chips!

Next thing would be to look for cold solder joints or solder bridges.

After that would be the operational check, does it power up and give a read out?

The dipper has to produce a low level signal, can you find it with a receiver to see if the oscillator is running?

How does it act connected to a 50 ohm dummy load?

Did you see the builder alerts on the kits archive pages?

After all of that I would drop a note to Steve Webber KD1JV and see if he would assist you?

He has been know to repair kits that he designed for a modest charge, if you ship it to him?

These are my thoughts.

Good luck
