I got on 80 meters earlier because I was leaving the QTH at 7 PM. Called CQ
on 3564 from 0030Z to about 0045Z, no takers. But 35 spots for me on the
reverse beacon network!

Hi Terry, Would love to have a sked with you but I haven't heard anybody on the 4 state nets. I have also listened for you on Thursday mornings and still nothing. I can't hear any of the net control stations. I always check the net reports and the calls are very long skip. I tried the SSS and only heard 3 calls working. Again all very long skip. I'm going to try an NVIS antenna to see if that might help. I figure Johnny, Paul, and Bill are too close to me and probably skipping over me. I'll keep listening and trying to figure out something that works. 73 joe W0MQY

I know you guys all work real jobs with regular hours, but I will be on 40 meters most afternoons hanging around the SKCC frequencies (need 31 for T8). I leave the radio on in the evening, but most times after sunset 40 meters is finished.

We definitely need to exchange SKCC numbers Johnny, but I can’t tune up on 80 from here at the hotel. Or at least I haven’t figured it out yet.

The items are: 1. K8IQY SS-40 Stable and Sensitive 40M Receiver The SS-40 high performance receiver was designed by Jim Kortge, K8IQY. SS stands for "Stable and Sensitive". It has an extremely quiet amplifier chain and a matched crystal IF filter provides a steep-sided 500 Hz bandpass and outstanding opposite sideband rejection. A variable crystal oscillator provides 25-30 kHZ of smooth stable tuning. Further details at: http://www.4sqrp.com/SS40.php 2. K8IQY SS-40TX transmitter This is a companion to the SS-40 receiver and produces up to 9 watts (can be set to 5W), using a hefty, cool running MOSFET as a final. All parts are through-hole lead parts. Further details at: http://www.4sqrp.com/ss40tx.php 3. K8IQY Magic Box TR Switching System The Magic Box is a solid-state, all-electronic, transmit/receive switching system that allows a separate receiver and transmitter to transceive with full (or semi) QSK. An Atmel Microcontroller handles the timing for five functions- transmitter keying, transmitter antenna switching, receiver antenna switching, receiver audio switching, plus a side tone oscillator. Hi gang,
I have a Christmas project I'm working on that I really would like to package in the now discontinued little red box kits. I'm looking for at least 2, but preferably 3 of them. Anyone having 1 or more unassembled ones they aren't going to use, please contact me off the reflector w0eb (at) cox dot net please with availability and asking price. Thanks, Jim Sheldon, W0EB

QRP Fox Hunt
Gary E. Kohtala
For some months I have been enjoying the so called "QRP Fox Hunt". In case you have not encountered this I recommend giving it a try. There is a summer and winter season with different bands. I have had a considerable amount of fun and have significantly sharpened my QRP skills. Please the link below: Best regards, Gary, K7EK

Re: Need several little red 4S box kits (discontinued)
Well, it appears that nobody has any little red boxes they aren't going to use. How about the smaller "little blue box" kits? I just measured them and I could use 3 of these instead if anyone has 2 or 3 of the blue ones they aren't going to use, and are willing to sell please let me know - just reply to sender rather than to the group to keep group clutter to a minimum.

Re: Need several little red 4S box kits (discontinued)
Further checking shows the little blue boxes would NOT be suitable the front panel isn't high enough to allow for the 1.8" color display to fit - the only one that would work is the little Red one.
One more plea for help if anyone has 1 or more of the little red ones they are willing to sell, please reply privately to this message. Jim Sheldon, W0EB

Thanks Gary for the info. The Fox Hunt sounds like great fun. I monitor 40 meters all the time and amazed how little activity I find between 7025 and 7045. Stan Ak0b

They are in the HilltopperKit sub group files section which are here: https://4sqrp.groups.io/g/HilltopperKit/files https://4sqrp.groups.io/g/HilltopperKit/files/Hilltopper-40_V2.0.ino If you are not signed up for the Hilltopper sub group you probably can't see or get to them. I also posted the Hilltopper30 INO file and schematic that Dave Benson sent me, just in case someone wants to try a 30 meter version. I hope this helps. Jim Pruitt WA7DUY
