Pacific Antenna (QRP-Kits) 41dB Step Attenuator

Jim Sheldon

I bought the 41 dB step attenuator kit from Pacific Antenna (QRP-Kits) www.qrpkits.com.  It's an open PC board with no cover and since it will actually handle 5 watts transmitter power, I thought it needed a case (there wasn't one available).  After I got into 3D printing, Jim Kortge (K8IQY) recommended Fusion 360 as a 3D CAD program to create my own designs for printing and helped me get started with it, I used the attenuator case as a learning project for Fusion 360 and actually managed to create a usable case that didn't look too bad either.

I just got it published on one of the big 3D printer websites, "Thingiverse" where it is "thing" number 3684670  ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3684670 ) and can be downloaded by anyone that needs it.

It isn't perfect, but it did come out looking pretty nice and sure will keep fingers (and fallen component leads, etc.) out of the exposed wiring as well as look decent on the bench.

Jim
Thanks to the link to your 3 D project. I found 3D printing as additive as ham radio.
Since getting my printer and finding thinginverse I’ve made several items related to ham radio.

SSS Results

John Lonigro

It's too bad only 7 people participated in the Second Sunday Sprint this month. I guess with summer arriving (nearly), there's more outdoor family activity and maybe amateur radio's priority has dropped a bit for some.  Maybe the unsettled atmosphere had something to do with it as well.  However, most of those who participated saw pretty much action.  Carl WB0CFF came in first this month with a whopping 28 QSO points, followed closely by Chas W2SH with 19 and Gary KF7WNS with 11.  Carl will receive his June certificate shortly.

The overall leader for the year is Chas W2SH with 89 points but Carl is gaining fast with 80 points.  Nick WB5BKL is currently third with 57 points.

This marks the halfway point in the 2019 SSS.  Later this month is Field Day weekend.  Hopefully everyone will be able to get out for at least a few hours that weekend and have fun playing radio.

John, AA0VE
