I apologize for writing LIDS...I was referring to US licensees...I know other countries may have different freq allocations, but that has not been a QRM problem for me. I'm old, cranky and slow...but

SLA Battery Charger suggestion, please
Bill is probably right. I've been lucky...my 2Amp charger has not fried my 7Ahr lawnmower bat, but I watch it very carefully and disconnect as soon as my volt meter says "full."...seems to be working

SLA Battery Charger suggestion, please
I use a Harbor Freight chaepie 2/4/6 charger and it has overcharge sensors. I think it was about $15. I've been using it continuously for four years. Not an endorsement, just and experience report. BT

Batteries for portable/PM
Further input...I agree with the RX/TX discussion but I was using 50/50 for a "worst case." For me, long operating times are done from my trailer or my truck...12V is abundant. An 8 or 10 cell holder

Right now I'm using a 12V SLAB with my LD-5. What are the suggestions for something lighter that will give at least 12hr (2hr TX) of full power ops? 72, Doc K5OSA - QTH: EM04sr ARRL 4SQRP #801 - NAQCC

EARCHI and EFHWA
Got to do a very unscientific A/B comparison of an EARCHI (and Z-100 tuner) to a PAR EFHWA 10/20/40 (no tuner needed) on Sat and Sunday mid afternoons. Both antennas were 5' at base and 15' at top. Co
