Cricket 80 Frequency issue
I would simply add a small cap in series with the crystal to raise the frequency slightly. Maybe about 10pF. Or if you want to get it right on frequency, install a small variable cap and then tune it.

Kansas Events
I'm planning on operating a special event station from the Oak Grove schoolhouse at some point this spring or summer. Date to be determined.

4SQRP HF Test Set
I'll second what Ron said, the original 4SQRP test set is a pretty handy tool, but there's a newer and better version coming out soon, so stay tuned.

Big Brutus
I'll try calling CQ on 7.122 here and there. Otherwise look out on the usual QRP frequencies, such as 7.030, 10.116, 14.060, etc.

I was a Morse intercept op in the early 90's in the Philippines, and I know all about the QRN and also the D layer absorption. Some days it got so bad we'd declare an outage due to atmospherics, and w

License question
Tech license? Heck, go for at least General so you can use HF! We'd be happy to have you. BTW, I was a Morse intercept op in the Air Force from 1989-1993.

Thanks, Johnny. I forgot to mention that with the Cricket 30 I designed the top of the case to be able to flip up so changing the battery is much more convenient.

Cricket Case
My first one, an original Cricket 80, was built into a wooden box. My Cricket 30 was installed in an old A/B computer peripheral switchbox case.

It was a combination of 80 and 30. Yep, it'd be fun to do a Cricket to Cricket QSO.
