End Fed Wave.... as in end fed full wave antenna??  Why? Because it doesn't need to be cut/spliced to use on lower band.. as in 160.

Last night after dark I was cruising 3550 for SKCC contacts when I was called by YU4DX Manu in Serbia, He was 559 and gave me the same. I seldom work DX as I do not have enough patience. That was cool being called from DX he needed my T for his C award. He got several others before the band folded up.

Will see U all in Branson in a few days. I have some gear a dummy load and my trusty 5 dollar 5 minute EFW packed up and ready.

I went to that page, but left me with more questions that I had when I got there. Is it supposed to be a short range antenna?

Bob, a dummy load antenna is basically a 50 ohm load in series with a relatively shorter than resonant length of wire, across the transmitter antenna connection.
The wire is there to radiate only a short distance, and the 50 ohm load prevents the finals from melting while trying to drive the non-resonant "antenna".
Methinks. :-)

My favorite dummy load antenna is a 4SQRP surface mt kit built in a Altoids tin with banana jacks on the outside for the radiator.... It has been to Branson a bunch and works well.
