Good Day to Build
WA0ITP
Looks like it has been a good dat to build all over the 4 state area.
About 2" here on the ground, none in the streets. Working on installing an HPM in an Altoids along with a switch, battery, jacks, and a power indicating LED. Kinda tight. What's on your bench today? ---------------------------------- I love this radio stuff ! 72 WAITP www.wa0itp.com www.4sqrp.com www.qrpspots.com

An electronic keyer specifically for my Swan 700cx.

Using the Island Keyer II, a small audio amp from Kitsandparts and HamGadgits keying adaptor. Front panel pots for On/Off and volume, weight, tone and speed, as well as momentary switches as required by the keyer. My 700cx sidetone leaves a lot to be desired so desided to build up a keyer with sidetone. Rear panel will have jacks for power, paddles, bug and line out. Working on the screen print now for both panels. Publisher does a good job for that. I've got a PigRig waiting in the wings but this one is the PigRig Plus. Just need to get it going. Doesn't seem like I can get my teeth into that one. It's has 72 seperate roids in it. OUCH.. Makes my fingers hurt just thinking about it. LOL I don't know if a picture will make it through the reflector but I attached one of a previous rig. 60 roids on the filter boards alone. :( I've got all the metal for the encloure waiting. Will someone send me on of those ROUND TO IT's LOL 73 and happy building to all: Jerry N0JRN ----- "WA0ITP" <wa0itp@mchsi.com> wrote:

Working on my PigRig. How can you count turns using #34 wire in a
1/4 inch long binocular core transformer?? And here I bitched about
the 1/8 watt resistors...

When you fold the wire in half and slip it through both holes, that is one turn. Loop both ends through the opposite holes and you have two turns... etc. Every time the wire passes through both holes is a turn. If you have an even number of turns, your wire ends will exit out the side you began. With a donut toroid, every time the wire passes through the hole is a turn. Joe, N6DGY

No snow or ice in central Arkansas, but it was kinda cold and windy. I'm still working on that Argonaut 505 a bit. And trying to fix my daughter's iPod Nano. (Gonna need a stronger jeweler's loupe!)
Yesterday I made a little one transistor oscillator - transmitter for AA1TJ's Vanguard project and today I spent some time CQing with it. 30 mW out on 20 meters. Here's a blog description: http://wa5bdu.blogspot.com/2013/03/vanguard-i-transmitter.html 72- Nick, WA5BDU

Well, we finally got it. Seems like we've escaped all the bad winter weather. I don't know how you really measure snow but a ruler my wife stuck into the snow on our deck is rapidly disappearing!
They say we're due for 5 more inches. That would put it at about 17" but I doubt we'll get that much. Problem here is that the city & county don't know how to deal with it when it gets this deep. Wind is horrible. Temperature is 31 F. Supposed to warm up so it won't be around long but while it is! Whoo-wee! Lot's of fender benders and the local authorities have been on TV saying stay home. I fixed the screen on my granddaughter's netbook today. This is the second time I've had to fix it! Ugh... But what are you going to do? I dug out a Taurus SSB that I'm trying to build for 40 meters. Trying to figure out where I left off and trying to verify everything I need to "change" to put it on 40. Looking forward to O'con. We're close now. 73 -- Dan -- KB9JLO PS Had a nice 20 M SSB QSO this afternoon with CT.

It looks like an RF power amplifier kit...probably 5 Watts and a breadboard area for designing your own QRP XCVR/exciter circuits to use with it :)
Great job!!

We had about 6 inches of blowing snow here on Saturday/Sunday so I spend Sunday building a 40 meter SSB exciter kit from Kanga. This device puts out 1 mW of RF and if you opt to build the suggested amplifier you can boost that up to 500 mW. It's called the Micro T2 and there is a companion receiver that goes with it but I have plenty of 40 meter receivers so I have not purchased that kit. These kits were articles in QST magazine so you can go to the ARRL website to see them if interested.
Good day indeed to builds something as the bands were not very good this weekend and the number of SOTA stations on the air was very low compared to most weekends. Looking forward to seeing many of you at Ozarkcon in less than two weeks now.
