i decided to just join you with the 4020 that is IF i can hear anyone through all the ssb qrm in the evenings on 40..its awful here.. just wait until they redo the band making the pig rigs useless..on 7122.. its a shame they dont keep a traditional place for beginners the novice ticket when it was thought of in 1950's was a great idea. novice clas a classb.. then they got the idea of general advanced and extra.
so i beleive thats how it began.. need to look at my history ..i got some of it right i think. i like 7030 7040 when the darn constant carriers are gone.. and seems like theres a nerd..who likes to constnatly tune up whenever i get on 7040.. whoever it is hes got a srong sig.. funny he goes away when i leave.. guess i got a fan after 35 years..who knew..lol Dennis wd9dwe ________________________________ From: "4sqrp@yahoogroups.com" <4sqrp@yahoogroups.com> To: 4sqrp@yahoogroups.com Sent: Monday, March 4, 2013 10:53 AM Subject: [4sqrp] Digest Number 38 4sQRP Group 4sQRP Group Group 13 New Messages Digest #38 1a Re: PigRigs and Crystals by november7wm 1b Re: PigRigs and Crystals by "Jerry Haigwood" w5jhjerry 1c Re: PigRigs and Crystals by "Frank Murphy" frankmgsa 1d Re: PigRigs and Crystals by "WA0ITP" otm74 1e Re: PigRigs and Crystals by "Jeremy Utley" jerutley 1f Re: PigRigs and Crystals by "Bart Lawson" w0iit 1g Re: PigRigs and Crystals by "Bob Confrey" wa1edj 2a PIG RIG SN 168 IS IN THE MAIL by "qrpbert" qrpbert 2b Re: PIG RIG SN 168 IS IN THE MAIL by "W5COV" w5cov 3a 7.122 crystals by "RLN37" RLN37 3b Re: 7.122 crystals by "WA0ITP" otm74 4a Re: Fwd: Ur CW signal by "Chris Howard w0ep" chris_yipyap_com 5.1 Re: Pig Rig by "Wayne Dillon" fleapowerus Messages 1a Re: PigRigs and Crystals Sun Mar 3, 2013 2:44 pm (PST) . That way, the club members could stay in contact with one another. It is not necessary to stick with 7030.7KHz but rather the club could pick a different frequency. Once the club had picked a frequency then the club would buy the required crystals from whomever they like to put their pig rigs on that frequency. Normally I don't do a lot of kits , but do build daily on perf board and point to point wiring . I literally have so much homebrew stuff that I am running out of room :) HOWEVER this group is what made me decide to order a kit and of course knowing Diz and his products helped push me along . This is reminding me of my old days as a Novice in 1965 (WN0NTU) and I hope he sells MANY more to members of this group . Should always be able to find a person to chat with . Since it reminds me so much of my Novice days I am going to dig out the old original J-38 that I started ham radio with to use just with this rig . I am out to chat , not set any speed records :) I may need to build up a code practice oscillator to practice with the J-38 to learn to send good CW with it again . VERY NICE THAT THIS IS TURNING INTO A CLUB PROJECT !! 73 , Charlie , W5COV ---- qrpbert mailto:e1dslr%40gmail.com> wrote: Ok my PIG RIG is on its way Reply to sender . Reply to group . Posted by: "Chris Howard w0ep" chris_yipyap_com I don't think battery power should make a difference one way or the other. 60 or 120 Hz is way different from 1200 Hz up and down the band. I think I would try taking out C27 and see if that makes any difference. You can just detach one side or the other. It will kill the offsetting of your transmit frequency, but that doesn't matter for the moment. The oscillator works on receive, so seems like it has to be just those components that come in on transmit. You can remove the ones associated with the transmit offset by taking out C27 or Q1 or R23, my preference would be C27. I don't know anything about the L7 toroid thing. There is the one in the power line.. do you have that one in your accounting? On 3/2/2013 7:05 AM, mailto:w2bpi1%40aol.com wrote:

If the Group is interested, I'll organize a group purchase of 7122 crystals. They will probably cost between $1 and $2 each. I'll take the bulk delivery and mail your 4 xtals to you. The postage will be on my nickel. If at least 10 members sign up, I'll go ahead and place the order. Wanna do it? FYI Diz only has 60 PigRigs left. btw usual disclaimers apply both on the crystals and the rigs. ------------ --------- --------- ---- I love this radio stuff ! 72 WAØITP www.wa0itp.com www.4sqrp.com www.qrpspots. com ----- Original Message ----- From: Jerry Haigwood To: mailto:4sqrp%40yahoogroups.com Sent: Sunday, March 03, 2013 1:11 PM Subject: RE: [4sqrp] 4S QRP Watering Holes! Hi All, I believe it was Diz’s intent to use the Pig Rig for clubs, nets, etc. Each club (such as 4sqrp) could have their very own frequency setup. That way, the club members could stay in contact with one another. It is not necessary to stick with 7030.7KHz but rather the club could pick a different frequency. Once the club had picked a frequency then the club would buy the required crystals from whomever they like to put their pig rigs on that frequency. The radio was never intended to be a general purpose 40 meter radio but was intended for single frequency use by clubs or nets. I remember when I was about 16 years old, the one of the local AM radio stations was giving away am radios as a promotion. Of course, the radios only received the single am station that was giving them away! They had a single knob – on/off and volume. A VXO won't help much. It sounds like a lot of fun. But it's not my cup of tea being so restricted, either. Unless..I have some *other* radios I can use when the Pig Rig frequency is in use. Posted by: "W5COV" w5cov My pig rig is now on order and Terry has me on the list for the needed crystals . 73 , Charlie , W5COV ---- qrpbert mailto:e1dslr%40gmail.com> wrote: > Ok my PIG RIG is on its way > > Terry is ordering the 7.122 rocks > > Will we need to make other component value changes to bring the flying pig rigs to their new home on 7.122??????? ???? > > Reply to sender . On 3/2/2013 7:05 AM, mailto:w2bpi1%40aol.com wrote: > > > I tried changing xtal. Problem still there. If I listen to the osc without transmitting I do not hear any birdies. I have a 1/2 toroid left over. Parts list says it is L7. I see no place for it on the board or see it on the schematic? I have also tried running the rig on battery power. > Reply to sender . Reply to group . Reply via Web Post . All Messages (13) . Top ^ 5.1 Re: Pig Rig Mon Mar 4, 2013 4:07 am (PST) .
